Also Bowser's Tank Brigade got me really frustrated, even with Hammer+Tanooki+shoe I took a dozen attempts to beat it. It felt even worse than Funny Tanks lawl.

Agreed. It may be the most underrated episode I know.
I haven't found all the stars though.

Not sure if it's still that popular, but New Great Castle Adventure used to be held in high regard. The first set of levels is fun, but further you get into the episode, the longer and poorer designed are its stages. A lot of the side objectives are annoying as well.

I gotta agree with you there. It's a good episode but gets kind of boring later on. And yeah, some of the later levels are kind of below average, too.

Any more elaborate reason as to why? Are they getting too hard and slow-paced?

There were a couple of really memorable levels. My highlights in particular were Peppermint Mountain (#10), Shyguy Cave (#15), Subcorn Summit (#19), Yoshi Mountain (#21), Temple of Dispair (#22), Kuribo's Kingdom (#23), Graveyard Grove (#26), Flight of Hights (#31) and Rosalina's Plight of course

Yeah, he's actually been doing a journey to beat every single SMBX 1.3/2.0 episode since around spring 2019 I think. He decided to not longer count 38A episodes later on though.
