Collectables are missing.

I placed six collectible stars in SMBX2, but only two of them appeared. What happened and what do I do?

Yes. They are all in the same section except 1.

There's maybe no deeper reason for it but it's still a fact. It's like that in all versions

It's do to with how they are saved by the save file. The game saves whether you have collected a star by storing the level and section the star is in, which means it can't distinguish between different stars in the same section.

Could you work around this with some lua code though, or would you break the game by editing the star counter?

It's... probably possible, but very tricky, and easier to just use a different type of collectable.
