Summary as of what's different from Minecraft to SMBX.

Minecraft:
You have blocky based 3D elements where you can mine and craft about anything imagineable for example simple or complex houses, creatures that you can interfere or fight with, abilities and crafting materials to get better progression rates and customization mods and sandbox where you can be free to do whatever you want to make with it's own tools to provide. Has an online mode where you can play with friends together and more.

Super Mario Bros. X:
A 2D Mario platformer game where it's based from the Allstars version of Super Mario from the SNES console but into a fangame. Has a lot of elements from the original game including from other game titles such as Zelda 2, Super Metroid and more. Includes an editor where you can create your own platforming game including custom graphics so it can be completly different instead of Mario by it's own and an online mode (editor only) where you can make levels together with a friend throughout the net but it's functionality is sadly buggy but it mostly works at least.
