If you paid attention to what the topic was about, you would know why it has deep ties with the aforementioned.

I think the whole situation with people bashing the Thirteenth Doctor is ridiculous, because we've more or less stabilized with the whole "extreme feminism" and "pandering to women" thing since 2015. While I certainly advocate for women's rights, I won't deny that there has been an unnecessary amount of a focus shift on female actors and females in media, but at this point in time, the "pandering" is almost nonexistent.

From my perspective, and I've been seeing this a lot recently, the only ones complaining about this "pandering to women", acting like it still exists today, are the people that were against the original feminism movement in the first place. I'm not a Doctor Who fan, and I don't even watch the show in its entirety, but even I knew that the concept of a female lead was and has been possible since the beginning of the series. One thing I think people fail to realize in this scenario is that there have been no open opportunities for women to take on the role of the Doctor since the inception of the show, especially with the heavy prejudice against women actors throughout the entirety of the 1900s. Even in the early 2000s, the demographic of the show was shifted mostly towards male actors, and I believe at one point in time, before David Tennant, there was the suggestion for a female lead, but David Tennant is David Tennant, they didn't pass that one up.

Before you can have a female in the role of the Doctor, you need an actress interested in that role to begin with, and as far as I'm concerned, there were no actresses interested in the role up until now. I think at this point the show has reached another peak in its lifespan, especially since it has become so popular in the West, its popularity has driven more actors/actresses towards the show, and I think that's one of the main factors in why there is now a female doctor after such a long time of not having one.
