2.0 is worth it for the new features for which you need absolutely no coding knowledge alone.
Also, why should he first learn the Legacy editor if he's going to switch to PGE eventually?

"Legacy editor" is legacy because buggy, crashful and uncontrollable (while any inconveniences can be resolved and new features are can be implemented into PGE Editor in any moment)

Exactly! Why would you use something if you are planning on using something better that will do the exact thing at the end of the day, basically making all previous knowledge of the thing you first learned pointless. PGE is easier to use than the legacy editor especially when you are using custom GFXs. Most GFX packs will have their GFXs spread randomly across the legacy tilesets, making it time consuming to learn the locations of each, and going through the tabs all the time. And as stated by wohlstand, it fixes bugs. And with the PGE pre-installed with 2.0, it allows for easy screenshot taking that is the size of the in-game window. And if for what ever strange reason you prefer the legacy editor, that can be found in 2.0 (data -> smbx then click on level editor) even though it is almost completely pointless.

I'm having a problem trying to play the game. Every time I try to open the game, it crashes, saying '' Run-time error '53' File not found ". I think it may have been something with the downloading, but I'm not sure. Any help with this?

How far can you get? Do you still see the loading screen with the spinning coin and "Wii Heart Nintendo" disclaimer and/or the looping intro level?

I don't have any reason to switch 2.0 right now.
Reasons.
A. It's better for me to wait until the beta phase is over.
B, I don't feel like there's real benefit to me when it comes to making content to the community.
-SMBX community is pretty much SMM community on crack.
-Half of the community is what many might call as elitists.
C. I am planning to develop an Indie game. On other words, I will have the knowledge to do whatever I want without any fan engines.
D. I will be able to learn level design by other means.
E. Sonic games feel more intriguing nowadays. Sonic 3 & Knuckles pretty much steamrolled over the Mario classics in terms of how much I liked the game.
That being said, I will still keep hanging around, but it seems like the community's pretty much useless to me just like the SMM community.
Once I find a better community than this, though... I will get rid of all of my connections to this one.

It's recommended to get the newest version anyway so you're not restriced for playing levels and episodes. Also, if you don't have managed to get LunaLua, you should get 2.0 because that's the easiest way to get a built-in Lua.

PGE editor was designed to be easier to use than the legacy editor.

Try downloading the 2.0 open beta. It's more stable, and it comes with a lot of cool new features!

Here for completed episodes and here for WIPs that can show considerable progress (read the rules specifically). Also SMBX 2.0 is still in beta, but the released beta is definitely worth downloading and playing.

Can you link the video please? Chances are that this could be an outdated version of 2.0 or 1.4.

It's SMBX 1.4.2. Nothing groundbreakingly new and recently it's been upgraded into 1.4.3. Wohlstand's forum has a section for 1.4 here.
