Full Rosalina Playable (Huge LunaLua Update)

Edit Update: Added A LunaLua version with new hitboxes. She is a little bit bigger than Peach now, but still fits in 1x2 Blocks. Still contains also a small Rosalina.

I made a complete Rosalina playable that replaces Link. The reason why I decided to replace Link mainly was to have 5 Mario characters, I didn't want to decide between Peach and Rosalina, and instead have them both. It includes (hopefully) all relevant Link graphics. Jewels are replaced by star shards, hearts are star shields, some powerups are replaced by Lumas or wands.

Explaining a few things:
-First I tried to make a version with Luma, instead of a wand and shield. It didn't quite work out for a few reasons. I wanted the Luma to create a transparent force field that serves as a shield. But the transparency made it completely invisible on white BGs, and 100% visible on black BGs. Also I had problems keeping the Luma small enough without using 1x1 pixels. I also tried to experiment and have the Luma as a shield himself, but there was not enough room for that. I could have used a tool to change hitboxes. But currently you can only increase them, but not move the hitboxes. Since I don't want the Luma to be part of the hitbox himself, I would have to move the hitbox to the right for the left animations.
-I also had a version where Rosalinas hair would look different when looking to the left, since her hair is not symmetrical. But most NPCs, or even Link himself is just flipped, too. That means he will have the shield and sword in the other hand when walking in the other direction. And I thought if I make the hair right, I also had to make the shield and wand right for consequency. But since you don't see the characters completely from the side, (a small angle instead) that would have resulted in a longer left arm when she is walking to the left, and a longer right arm when she is walking to the right. Also it was hard to make her not look too different when she is walking to the left. Small changes to the hair make a huge impact on the overall appearance of the character in 16 Bit versions. Just flipping felt like it fits the spirit of the retro look.
-The world map Rosalina is so small because Link only allows a height of 32 pixels (Peach has 44)
-I included some of the old graphics, in case you want to play around with them.
-The iceflower/hammersuit/Tanooki have such extreme coloring in order to make the different powerups look more diverse. All 6 Link versions look to similar in my opinion, it is boring and also can be confusing. I wanted to have a basic coloring for the main powerups normal, fire flower and leaf, and make the other versions more special.

-I highly recommend downloading http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... =69&t=7427 for the sound. It allows you to have customizable sounds without replacing the default sounds. If you don't have this, you will have to replace Links default sounds, and therefore change them globally, also for the games that still use Link as a playable character.
-I also recommend reading the readme file

Download: Older Versions: EDIT: Version 1.1. Made dark and ice powerup a little less extreme. Old version can still be found in misc folder. Didn*t update screenshot.
Version 1.2. Now replaced the Link NPC with a normal Rosalina without wand and shield.
Version 1.3. More consequency with outlines. Before everything was SMB2 like, except for arms and faces that have been SMB3 like. (was grey instead of darker skin color) Now she is all SMB2 like just as Peach.
1.31 Dress outlines of IceFlower have lower saturation.
1.32 More small color adjustments
Version 2.0 Added LunaLua Rosalina, also made small changes to the dress of the small Rosalina. Rearanged palettes for easier recoloring.

The Purple colored skin looks out of place and weird! The Dress is the only thing that should change color or style! other then that, looks nice!

That is probably the death graphic, and the purple skin would indicate that she died or something.

It somehow is a "death" graphic, but not in terms of the player dying, it is more like an undead/deamon graphic. She is dark Rosalina, fighting against light Rosalina in the picture.

That's what I meant when I talked about extreme coloring for the more special powerups. It is the hammerbrother suit, you are not supposed to have this powerup too often, since it is more powerful I also wanted it to look more extreme. I wanted the stronger powerups to be more noticable, instead of just being the 6th recolor of the same dress, she wouldn't look more powerful than a Fireflower Rosalina. And that's what already annoyed me about Link.

Loving it. I absolutely love that Rosalina graphic replacing Link. I hope there is a Standing Rosalina NPC replacing the friendly Link NPC. :P Very nice work!

She would fit more as a boss then as a playable. I always avoid the hammer suit, that is true, but the skin color and haird color makes it look very weird if not unnatural!

I would recommended to use a gray Dress for the hammer suit instead of being completly dark in General. And yes, that would suit more into a Boss.

The Luma is the climbing and flying animation for Rosalina. So yes, it is included.

I also made the coloring for hammer and ice suit a little less extreme. The skin color still is a little different, but not as noticeable anymore. Overall she is a little lighter now. Not sure if that is enough for you, since I still wanted her to look more special than the standard powerups. But of course you are free to recolor her the way you like, if you want you can also post your own versions here as suggestions. The old version can still be found in the misc folder.

I forgot about the Link NPC in the end. Should the Rosalina NPC be without a wand and shield and have her hands down like SMB3 Peach?

Update: I added a LunaLua version with a bigger Rosalina. She is 6 pixels higher and 4 pixels wider. She now is bigger than Peach, but still fits in 1x2 block gaps.

The fireballs from the fireflower don't exactly spawn on the wand, since increasing her height moves that spawn point relative to the attack hitbox. If someone finds a way to fix that I may update it again.
Also if the sprite calibrator will allow to modify the world map player graphics I may also make that graphic bigger.

Rather replace Toad instead. Ruppes didn't fit in a Mario game. Rosalina can spin like in 3D World.

I wanted to replace Link so that I have 5 Mario characters. Spin attack wouldn't have worked so well for the pogo move and also other things. If you don't like the coins or power ups you can still replace the graphics and sound with the normal mario coins and power ups (only downside is that mushrooms won't move).
