Help For An Episode

Postby IcarusBen » Fri Feb 06, 2015 3:14 pm

So, I want to create a sort little game to test out my skills. I already a world map design with 9 level spaces on it, no problem.

The problem is that I don't know what levels to put into those spaces. That's where you all come in. I want to know what levels to make. I already have ideas for the first level and the last level, but it's the middle seven that are giving me a hard time.

The idea is that it's a sorta-kinda sequel/re-imagining of Super Mario World, but much, much shorter so as to not make me suffer from complete designer's block later down the road.

So, please, send in your ideas for seven sorta-kinda-SMW-styled levels. Don't worry, I'll give credit where credit is due if this project finally takes off.

If that's world 1 and grassland theme, i think i can help a bit.
1: Plains level
2: Another plains
3: Cave level
4: Athletic level
5: Fortress level
6: Plains level
7: Underwater level
8: Semi-athletic level (not that high but has more pits and moving platforms than a plains level but less than an usual athletic level)
9: Castle level

I hope this is what are you looking for.

I like the ideas, but they seem rather generic. I'm looking for more detailed descriptions. Also, the entire game is 9 levels, with varying themes from level to level.

1. Plains level with Kirby music
2. Plains level with Mario music
3. A generic cave level
4. A dungeon with a Kamek-boss (regular enemie but a 100 times stronger)
5. Plains level with a new variation of enemies
6. Athletic level with mushrooms
7. A generic underwater level
8. Semi-athletic (no description
9. Night plains level
10. Castle level with Koopaling (Larry recommended)

You want it to resemble Super Maro World as much as possible? Here's my opinion:

Level 1: Yoshi's Island (plains level)
Level 2: Donut Lake (water level)
Level 3: Vanilla Dome (cave level with lava)
Level 4: Cheese Bridge (athletic on a bridge and mushrooms)
Level 5: Larry's Fortress (fortress with Larry Koopa as the boss)
Level 6: Forest of Illusion (forest)
Level 7: Ghost House (self-explanatory)
Level 8: Valley of Bowser (dark world)
Level 9: Bowser's Castle (castle with Bowser as the boss)

That's... actually a really good idea. Thanks!
