Not really. Posting a thread is different from posting a reply. The board even differentiates between threads and posts. While they're both called the same thing, there is a distinct difference, not just literally but socially, between starting a topic and participating in one.

The "Double" of double posting, however, I have to chalk up to being a newbie.
