Deleting a Section in a Level

Postby msl_007 » Sat Nov 29, 2014 11:49 pm

Hi,

First time poster. Love the program. Having lots of fun with it.

Anywayz...

Is there a way to delete a section of a level (as in one of the 21 available) automatically? I know you can manually use the eraser, but if I'm needing to delete a section with lots of items, it would be nice to click a button and be done. (Kind of doubting this can be done easily, but got my fingers crossed anyway)

That is not really possible to delete a Section completly with a simple Button or Function. You have to manually delete it via Eraser and go across the screen. One thing you can notice that you can move your Screen in your Level even faster if you hold the "SHIFT" button and the specific Arrow Keys. That way you can delete things faster across the screen.

Well, it's not directly possible in SMBX, like Bossy said, you'd have to erase the whole section manually.

However, if you use PGE you could select the whole section at once and delete it.

there's a copy section function in base SMBX. You could copy an empty section into the section you want deleted. The copy function is located in level settings.

Sadly, that won't delete all the blocks, but just resize the section and change background.

Oh, how I'm see, I need to implement into PGE "Delete current section" which will remove all items and near items (you can define, how far out section items can be). Now I'm implementing those tools into the editor:
- rotating/flipping section
- cloning section (even between difference files)
- also will implement "delete section" too
Thanks for idea ;)

What about removing of level section, GMarinaX told right, PGE have boundary selection and you can quickly select huge area of items (don't forget use mouse wheel to scroll vertical and Ctrl+MouseWheel to scroll horizontal, will be faster ;-))

Just made:

You can get experimental build from laboratory:
http://engine.wohlnet.ru/docs/_laboratory/
Download the 'Editor' and then take any configuration package(s) which you wish (you also can get another config packs and switch between them)

1) Choosing deleting of section in the menu [Level -> Section modify -> Delete section] (how you see, planned other features, but now they are dummy, i.e. will nothing on click!)
Image

2) Confirm deleting of all elements in the section:

3) Here you can set padding if you wanna remove items which placed out of section range:

4) When you was removed section, you will be switched to another available section, and when you will switch back, you will see empty uninitialized section:
