Music Filesize Reduction / MIDI

I'm at the end of my rope getting music for Yoshi's Island X. Any alternate source I find like m03 bloats filesize. I really need a foolproof way to play MIDI music which is small, or some other way that offers the same small size. NOT 2-5 MB, but 600 kilobytes. That's what I need, because my connection is rather slow. And do you guys want default or a small amount of music for the WHOLE episode? Please help me.

SPC files are a few 100 kbs.Converting them into a MP3,makes them 1.MB or less.
