and i realized, is making smbx levels really worth it?
am i becoming a generic smbx user that nobody will remember once i'll finish my projects?

i mean...

there's the classic fact of: "pretty graphics, shitty design"
and... am i starting to become that too?
yeah this topic IS pretty much useless but, i kinda posted this to see if other people reflect on my thoughs, if that sentence makes sense...

i don't know what to do, i feel like i've become... well... forgettable, like.
i wanna stand out from the rest, i wanna be remembered for what i do, and this can be pretty much be applyed for each user (almost)

While I really see where you're coming from, the main focus should always be fun. If you only think about getting popular your levels' quality will drop. You should have fun making a level, and aim for an enjoyable experience.
Also to me you're a good user and really make good levels. No need to question your skills.

If you wanna get remembered by many making levels in a fan game isn't exactly the best thing to do.
If you wanna get remembered by the community make good levels and be a nice user. To me you fullfill both so yeah.

Dude, don't stop believing making levels. First off, you're literally one of the top ten designers in the community IMO. Second, some users here don't use SMBX, they stay for the community.

How about viewing this from another point? You shouldn't feel bad when nobody plays your levels or uses your graphics, because it is stuff you shared with the world in order to let people have fun with them, not for getting compliments. There's no reason to wait for comments like "This is great" or "You did a good job imo", you shouldn't care about what they are thinking. Of course you feel grateful when people say how much they love your stuff, but that doesn't matter at all. You made them for the community and if everybody overlooks them, they are missing the fun. Not you. In other words you can laugh at them if they don't check out your awesome stuff.

Can you please stop being so pessimistic? This thread is perfectly true, fine, valid, and legitimate. If anyone downrepped you for this, than --- that's stupid.

I think your designing is improving with every new level of yours I see. You're actually one of the most unique (and best) designers in the whole community, imo. I can look at a level you made and instantly tell it's yours, so yeah, your style is very original. I don't think you should worry about anything.

I see where you're coming from, Darkonius. The community's approach to level design is definitely not as broad as it could be (forgive me as I haven't paid much attention to level design recently, but I'm sure I'm not too far off), and that's another reason why I think it's good to affiliate with other communities. We can expose eachother to new ideas that way, and new ideas are cool.

If you want to be remembered for doing something in this community, then do something! It's up to you if you want to stand out. This goes for everyone.

I feel as though you feel this way because of how many new users there are who don't know crap about making levels. I mean, there are some people who do and whatnot, but this community was a lot better when there wasn't a new user every 2 seconds. I have considered leaving because of this, as I no longer feel like an individual among the community. I feel as though every user is being sucked up into the mass of generic users who don't often know anything about this. I remember going on Knux's forums, and there was only a small group. This has gotten too much popularity to the point that this community is more like a factory of level makers and no one person stands out. Its story is similar to Apple Inc.'s except the current standing is a lot more tragic. There was a decently sized group of people dedicated to one thing. They have stayed in the background, but then emerged and took control to lead a community of people who loved the object at hand. Then one day, they started advertising and bringing in so much popularity that the leader let it get to his head, and soon he wanted people joining left and right just to keep the community new. After a while, the old individuals left one by one until all that was left was the leader and his incompetent grunts. This forum has gained too much popularity, and Joey has become too obsessed with running this thing that he's running it more like a big business rather than a small community. Because of this, I want to say that I have officially left. The piece above states my reasons, and there is nothing for me anymore. This thing has become a ghost of its former self, and I must congratulate Joey for finally driving out the important ones in our community. See you...never........................

I haven't advertised this place at all save for around communities with more mature userbases than ours (see: our affiliates). I haven't driven anybody out either, or let anything "get to my head". Don't try to make a scene like that, especially one that derails a thread. Also, refrain from making such baseless claims.
