Coins with events

I'm am making a level which has a SM64 red coin objective. Although I have no idea
on how to make an event to so that when you collect 8 red coins, a star will appear.

Make a layer called red coins, then make another layer called star. Make every coin have "no more objects in layer" selected. Then make a star but hide it. Make an event so that when all eight red coins are collected, the star will appear.
