Seriously, Joke Levels have got so unfunny since BTB cancelled Jeff's Revenge. I have seen 3 different types of Block Bollocks so far, and all of them are shit. The Block Bollocks were funny when the level was new, but not now. They are unfunny as fuck and so are the "-esque" levels. Also the other Joke Levels always have the same fucking principle. Which is a construction of clash, randomly scattered blocks, stupid unfitting music and deadfish's joke level graphics pack. Oh and yeah, just stupid spam messages and words like "dick" and "fuck" in various textboxes. I don't get why you people do this. If you have a joke level, which is actually good and funny, submit it to the community. But please check if you are funny enough to fulfill these criteria. Because 90% are unfunny.
And now @all those pseudo Touhou fans. Touhou is not an excuse for random NPC spam especially Bullet Bill generators and Rinka Spawner. I'd like to ask some people what Touhou is, because some doesn't seem to know and still use it. I would name some people but that would be actually really rude. Nobody likes insanely hard levels. Especially not if they are frustating, timewasting or just fucking short. I don't get what's fun about them. Do you like it when people are suffering at your work? Is it that? Look in the mirror and ask yourself that. Seriously, try making proper levels and don't waste time of your life for making shit like this. Contribute great memorable stuff to the community and not some little timewasting unhealthy shit which nobody likes to play at all.
EDIT:
I don't care if you still do them, but remember they're just a waste of time.
Can you give me a link to deadfish's joke level graphics pack?
Because man, I don't know why, I really want to make a joke level.
Quite seriously, I don't see why this is a problem. What's wrong with being a pseudo-Touhou fan that likes to make cruddy Touhou bosses? If that's what they like, than let them do it. And same goes for joke levels. I love making joke levels, even if I don't usually release them to the public which actually, I'm making one currently named "Bloody Bathroom" and it's funny as hell, and I can't wait to release it to the public to play.
So, my message to you is quitchabitchin'. Don't mean to be rude or anything, just something I would like to clarify.
The problem is, you can't be a fan of something you don't know anything about. These guys think "Touhou" is a new word for "Kaizo". And well, it doesn't really bug me but it's just annoying to see people wasting their time with shit.
That's no prob. I already excepted that kind of posts, but welp, not from you :p More like from these Joey-like guys.

Well, I was bored when I made Lock Lollipops. I just felt like messing with SMBX a bit. As for other types of joke levels, have you even seen Vengeance on Redigit? I'm currently working on a REALLY GOOD joke level with mostly serious gameplay but jokey stuff added in. You'll see soon enough.
I dunno about the toe hos, but I am getting sick of joke levels.
If I confirm people are doing it just because they want to be funny as well, I'm gonna do something about it.
It's like when Kep tried to emulate my LC8 thread. It's really not worth making threads on the forums for if all they're gonna do is go straight to trash can.
How are "Touhou" Levels bad in general? I can understand that Joke Levels are bad because they are not regular Mario Levels, ever. Touhou Levels however, they do are relating to the whole "Bullet Fire" reaction but what I am doing is working on set difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard, Lunatic). Like this (well, it is outdated):
By Extra it is only on one set difficulty (Hard and Lunatic) but this has to do with Memorization in order to get good at it much like on the regular Touhou Project Game Series.
Except where did the fad of joke levels and Touhou levels start from? And as for joke levels, it depends on how you take the joke. If you get it, then the level is deliberately supposed to be funny.

You get my point wrong, sir. I actually meant the Pseudo-Touhou levels from the Pseudo-Touhou fanboys. You are NOT affected from it.

They saw bossedit8's boss fights and wanted to do the same.
castlewars wrote:Except where did the fad of joke levels start from?
From all the CC entries. Especially Block Bollocks now.
Well, I like bossedit's pseudo-Touhou levels because he actually plays Touhou and knows how to make it good. Eric knows how to make them, but not with the elegance bossedit has.

FOR NO FUCKING REASON.
There is a reason why there's joke levels.
Back when the original TGCA was made, there was, like, no such thing as a joke level. Everyone made serious levels. However level styles have changed, and so has the community, and joke levels have been on the rise since community contests have had at least one joke level. I'm including joke levels because it's a way of showing that the SMBX community has changed from the days of the original forums, as well as level styles.

yeah but if the joke levels are a plagiarism fest and unfunny as fuck then don't include them.

No, it is not a plagiarism fest! They may be inspired by past joke levels, such as Amateur Lands and Block Bollocks, but they're not carbon copies! At least one joke level will play out like a serious one!
Honestly, it doesn't matter if it's a "carbon copy" or not, if a joke level is unfunny, it's unfunny. To me, I liked joke levels like Block Bollocks when there weren't so many of them, but they have since lost their charm as everyone is trying to imitate the same gimmick, or the same joke of horrible graphics and level design, profanity, etc. As for the Touhou levels, those are fine, as long as the designer has played Touhou and knows how to design them well(like bossedit8).

So what's your opinion on Cheezburger Hillz?
that level should fuck off like all the other unfunny joke levels.
that's all.
and sorry if i sounded rude. again.
