Fucking Lag!

This is starting to irritate the shit out of me.
Just now, I was working on my project, and this fucking lag comes up and tries to rear its ugly head.

What happens is, basically I'm playing the game, making sure got all the stuff in order. Next thing I know, the game freaks out and freezes for 2-3 seconds, and goes haywire for another 3 sec. During the next 3 sec. I can't control what the hell I doing until I either:
A) Run into an enemy
or
B) Fall in a pit and get myself killed.
It just confuses me, like..., What the hell? The lag doesn't come up too often, but when it does, it can really fuck you over.
Anybody else have this problem occasionally?

If You Don't Want Lag, When You Open SMBX, Check The "Disable Frameskip" Box To Fix It.

Disable Frameskip will still make your game unplayable. What are your specifications? You may want to get more memory to run SMBX properly.
Are other programs working fine? If the answer is no, then do the following:
- Uninstall useless programs.
- Check for malware, adware, virus threats, etc.
- Defragment your hard drive if you're using an older machine.
- Add more memory to your system (you probably need at least one GB of RAM to run SMBX properly).

I know this kind of lag pretty well. It usually occurs when there are many background programs active and/or the computer has been turned on for too long. This happens because the computer is too focused on other programs or is tired and fails playing smbx properly for a second or two, then notices this error and tries to get to the default FPS as fast as possible and exceeds it to higher than the default FPS until it balances out. Disconnecting from the internet might also help. That's all I can think of that Raster did not mention.

Internet connectivity won't impact FPS in any way, but closing background programs like Kyo suggested should speed it up a notch.

I experience similar problems, but for me the lag is only about 0.3 to 0.7 of a second long. I call them "sound-lags", as they only occur for me sometimes, when SMBX plays a sound (when jumping or stomping an enemy for example).
For me it helps when i check the "Disable Framskip"-option, but obviously it slows down your game a bit. And yes, they are really annoying for me too.

I don't think it was viruses. For me, anyway. I don't have any trouble some programs, I don't think. Memory. I'll look into that.
