Theoretically, you can make over 9999+* colored switches. Good luck???
*This is assuming you don't hit the in-game block limits BTW
Inspired by MegaDood's RGB pipes from his script pack, I decided to make switch blocks that have customizable colors and can be toggled with matching extra setting strings. Because... why not? You probably have dreamed a LOT about having a 9999-color switch hunt in SMBX2, and now the ability to make that dream happen is... a reality. Or don't. Maybe you could probably build pixel art with it, idk. You could even do the SO RETRO sprite in SMBX2. Or you could make the Mona Lisa out of switch blocks. Because you have access to a color picker now. I mean... that sounds kind of crazy, right?
Credits to MegaDood and The0x539 for the original scripts I used to set these up. Report any bugs to me if you do see 'em!
Anyways, on a serious note, here's how to set those up:
- Colors AND index strings are set up via the block's extra settings. Be sure you pay close attention to the extra settings or just copypaste blocks with premade extra settings out of bounds (with labels) to ensure you're organizing them properly!
- Switch colors are defined by using a color picker, much like the ones you've seen in the screen effect settings for lava as well as light source colors in basegame SMBX2.
- Switches are connected to their respective blocks via index strings. For example, if a switch block's index string is "mario", it will also toggle blocks that are named "mario". You can name whatever you want, but any switches sharing the same index string will activate the same blocks of their string!
- Colors are independent of index strings. BUT, I won't stop you from using this to make troll levels. Man, we just wanna have a bit of our evil fun sometimes huh?
