FAQ questions your question. If you don't know where it is, its the question mark block at the top. You could actually hover on the icons and then it shows what it is.

I'm gonna briefly explain each icon. Firstly, though, you should know that there are always two types of icons, one for topics that include no new replies and one for topics that do.

Mushrooms:
The most basic icon. They are the default icon, used by topics that don't fall into any of the following special categories. Green (1-Up) contains no unread replies, Red (Super) does.

Flowers:
Mushrooms change to flowers once a topic receives at least 50 replies. Red (Fire Flower) contains no unread replies, Blue (Ice Flower) does.

Shells:
If a topic has a shell icon, it is stickied (pinned to the top). It will always be displayed at the top of the respective subforum. Green contains no unread replies, Red does. If the shell is upside down, that means the topic has been locked.

Key:
A key indicates a locked topic. Locked topics cannot be replied to, and posts in locked topics cannot be edited anymore, unless you are a moderator.

Switches:
If a topic has a switch icon, it is an announcement topic and is displayed in its own section. Blue (P Switch) contains no unread replies, Gray does. If the switch is pressed, that means the topic has been locked.
