by John Nameless
Hello! Welcome to the...

A NPC pack purely consisting of NPCs with
fully original(-ish) designs & even game mechanics sometimes!
Take a look at what I & also a few others conceptualized & created,
and pick which you like most!
As each NPC here has their own download links!

Button Switch Platforms: show
With the original concept & spritework made by Emral...
Here's a set of various platforms that activates when you land on them & stop whenever they hit a Line Guide Reverser!
Also including a unique pink one that will stop anytime you jump off of it!

Emral - Original Concept & Spritework
Sambo - Created the basegame YI platform which is used as a reference/base for this.

Here's a candle flame & a set of blocks with said candle flame disguising itself as said blocks
before revealing itself & falling down to split into two fireballs upon the player getting close to it!
It can also melt any SMW Icy Blocks it comes into contact with!

Here's a "block" that reveals itself as an NPC & runs away from the player upon being hit!
You can also set what NPC or the amount of coins it drops upon being defeated!

Here's a set of marine reptiles based on "Bubble Bobble" that walk around, then stop to shoot out bubbles of varying types depending on their color!
The blue one shoots out a bubble the player & even NPCs can swim in!
The red one shoots out red hot boiling bubbles that harms the player on contact!
The green one shoots out a bubble that can contain any NPC of your choice!

Taito - company behind Bubble Bobble, used as inspiration for Bubbas
DeltomX3 - stole the math.sin() speedY hovering handling for the water bubbles from her
Storrmi NPC.

With the original concept & spritework made by BlueKazoo...
Here's a walking gooey ball that can be squished & bounced on by the player to gain new heights!
NPCs can also bounce on the goo-mball to head up high aswell!

BlueKazoo - Concept & Spritework
birdmanager6 - ripped the
SFX from Boogerman on the SNES that was used as the bounce SFX here.
MegaDood - originally made the culpritIsNPC/Player check.
DeltomX3 - Programming of the squishing & stretching of the Goo-mball

Here's a joyful bite-sized version of a certain angry sun we know of...
whose flames that can grow into various sizes depending on the extra-settings set by the user!
It can also melt any SMW Icy Blocks it comes into contact with!

With the original concept & sketches made by DeltomX3...
Here's a sharp-shootin' gunslinger that hops around a couple steps depending on your configuration
then stops to jump up & shoot a bullet out of it's nose towards the player closest to them!
Fun fact! this guy's actual name is "Star Blastin' Bas. Tim"!

DOWNLOAD: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Inspired by the Wiggler reskin of the Sniffers from Minecraft's Super Mario Mashup Pack...
Here's a large & harmless variant of the wiggler that only moves around towards any fruits or veggies that are nearby!
However... feed it a poisonous veggie, and it'll become enraged!
Chasing the player closest to them while taking out any brittle block or NPC in it's path!

Mojang - originally created the original Wiggler reskin over the Sniffer for the "Super Mario Mashup Pack" in Minecraft, also made the animal luring mechanic used as inspiration for the NPC.
Siahwolf - initally suggested the idea to bring/create the bigglers into SMBX.
MrNameless - Concept Additions, Spritework, & Programming
DOWNLOAD:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

With the original concept & ideas made by Zephyr... (A different Zephyr btw, seperate from the one you're probably thinking of)
Here's a set of gift boxes that can be opened by throwing or jumping it to reveal whatever is contained within,
while also still acting as a stationary item like a Key or a Mushroom Block!

Also included, is a special version of the Runaway ? Blocks that's made to look like a present!

Zephyr - Made the concept/idea of the presents & how would they function. Also suggested the runaway variant of the presents.

Very nice pack! Especially loving the Starslingers. But I'm getting an error with them:

I already see some cool stuff there. Some of these might find a use in my project, nice.
Also I see something interesting looking [that is meant positively] testmaps (which is not always the case for npc demonstrations).
I can only ever wonder how you (guys) can still create so much new stuff now with all the NPCs available so far, really impressive.
Edit: There is one thing from which I think it kind of sucks... the credits are scattered all over the place (npc lua, ai lua, sometimes a credits txt).
If I want to use some of you content (which also exists thanks to other people as you stated yourself), I feel like I am responsible to consider them all as well. I actually tried to find them all:
Code: Select all
Credits - Bigglers:
Siahwolf (https://youtube.com/@siahwolf733?feature=shared) - initally suggested the idea to bring/create the bigglers into SMBX.
Mojang - originally created the "Biggler" for the "Super Mario Mashup Pack" for Minecraft, also made the animal luring mechanic used as inspiration for the NPC.
Emral - made the original basegame wiggler AI used as a base for this.
Credits - Bubbas:
DeltomX3 - stole the math.sin() speedY hovering handling for the water bubbles from her Storrmi NPC.
Credits - Button Switch Platforms:
Thank you Emral for making the original concept & OG blue platform sprites!
That & some suggestions/hints for how to approach handling lineguided platforms & their speeds & such!
& Thanks to the SMBX2 Devs for making the YI Platforms which was used as a base/reference here!
SMBX2 Team - Created the YI platform which is used as a reference/base for this.
Emral - Made the original concept & sprites of the platforms & gave some suggestions/hints on how to handle lineguided platforms & their speeds.
Credits - Goo-mballs:
BlueKazoo - Made the original concept & spritework.
DeltomX3 - Made the code that allows the Goo-mball to squish & stretch upon being bounced on.
MegaDood - originally made the culpritIsNPC/Player check.
birdmanager6 - ripped the SFX from Boogerman on the SNES that was used as the Bounce SFX here. (https://www.sounds- resource.com/snes/boogermanapickandflickadventure/sound/5184/)
Credits - Starslingers:
DeltomX3 - Made the orignal concept sketches of the starslinger.
MegaDood - Made the player-homing rotation code originally made for the Rocket Randy NPC used here.
Yuji Ohno - Where the gun-firing SFX was taken from (https://youtu.be/TDfxloyUPnI?feature=shared)
I actually do like how S_Koopa0 has done it:
viewtopic.php?t=29352
It is a single PDF file with credits and instructions both included.

Ill see what I can do regarding credits but do note that the credits can also be found in this forum page within the individual NPCs' spoiler pages

I only saw the 'extra credits', as I have not opened every quote. I was only interested in the download to have a closer look at everything.
However this makes it easier, as the content of each credit would only be copied as a single textfile into each folder of your content.
Then you can see it immediately. I believe that most people are more likely to keep the download file or the extracted files of such an NPC pack and then look inside.

Okay, these are some really cool NPC concepts here, with some clever behaviour patterns too. Definitely gonna mess around with these!

Is the Biggler inspired by the Minecraft Mario Mashup Pack Sniffer Wigglers?

Yes. He gave credit to Mojang for the idea. I think that the answer is obvious.

This is mighty impressive! Very good ideas on display here and good coding to back it up. But I'm curious, are you planning on doing more SMW/SMB3 NPCs? Or have they all been implemented?

Thank you!
Im still planning to make more npcs from time to time, albeit much slower & by one this time as thinking of & creating unique original(-ish) NPC concepts is really difficult.

I actually once had the idea that users could simply post “wishes” or concepts for new NPCs or blocks in a "collection idea thread", but without this intrusive “please create this for me, I would like to have it”, but simply as an idea for people who would be interested in program and design it.
That could be the counterpart to the
SMBX2 Custom Assets Index. So, I do not know what you looking for, but you are aware of this helpful table, aren`t you?

I wasn't aware of that list, thanks for sharing! I guess what I'm asking is, are there any SMB2/SMB3/SMW NPCs that have never been implemented by anyone in lua yet? So basically, NPCs you will encounter when playing SMB3/SMW normally that are completely unavailable in SMBX, basegame or mods?
