super neat episode, really love it. but sometimes after exiting a level mario starts randomly becoming invisible inside the hub? not too big of a deal since it doesn't persist when going into other levels, just thought it might be worth pointing out.

edit: seems to be a costume thing. costumes with extra frames don't seem to get filtered completely when you return to the lab but going into a level that doesn't manually set the costume fixes the issue.

Are the devs going to use this contest as a means to squash some bugs?

If so, does that mean this episode will be relegated to Beta 4 only? Or will there be some sort of configuration file (like a "compat.ini") that reactivates any of these bugs that are fixed in future version?

Some levels already don't work on the dev build. There is no plan to have anything like a compat.ini, but SMBX2 Beta 4 Patch 4 Hotfix will always be downloadable, so it doesn't really matter I think.

Updated the download link with a patch addressing the following issues:
- Fixed Mario's animation in the hub after clearing certain levels (Darkmatter Ascent, friend machine, Frozen Blast, Jumping Koopa Cruise, Non Consorted Conundrum, Statuette Express, Tiny Mega)
- Fixed a bug in Darkmatter Ascent that caused a lua error (thanks, Quine!)
