Based on the upper screenshot, I'm not sure what to think of the angled SMB1 floor block tiles. It could look like it was chipped, which is somewhat realistic in that chipping could leave a bright spot, though I'm wondering if a simple brown line would have been better than that covering.
Whatever it's supposed to be - Is it a carpet? Is it a layer of dirt? Just a minor question, not a critique. For now, I'll assume it's dirt.
One thing I can say about the color of the "dirt" is that it doesn't quite match the floor tiles. If we're really going with 8-bit SMB1, I think there's a limit of 3 colors per tile plus transparency if applicable. I see 6 colors plus transparency in those floor tiles (it may look like 7 colors, but I think that's just image compression).
