Mario and the Wizard's Castle

Hello SMBX community! I'm Fizzlesnoofson, and after much time, I've finally made the necessary preparations to get on the forums and announce a project I've been working on for quite a long time.

Mario and the Wizard's Castle is an smbx episode inspired by the free exploration and star collecting of Super Mario 64.

Story:

Long ago, a great king ruled over a mighty kingdom. His kingdom was not, however, mightier then that of the neighboring Wizard. The king wanted to be proven as the strongest in the land, but no matter what he tried, he could not topple the wizard or his castle. As one last push, the king tapped into dark powers to become even stronger. This power corrupted him, twisting his mind until all he desired was destruction. The wizard saw this, and used the magic of the power stars to seal away the Corrupt King into a dark world where his power would be contained. Now someone is trying to free the Corrupt King from his prison while the wizard is away, and only the greatest heroes in the land can stop it.
The game is planned to have 15 normal courses with six stars each, 6 mini courses with three stars each, and 12 secret courses with one star each. Stars can be collected in just about any order with few exceptions. Courses will be varied, adventures will be had, and several bosses will be fought, all while exploring the great wizard's magical and mysterious castle of wonders!

I'd love to hear any suggestions and criticism you may have. I'll respond to as much as I can and do my best to update progress on this on a monthly basis at least, and hopefully I'll have it playable by the end of the year.

Infact, I'd like to play this sometime. Which version is this episode going to be in though?

It's made in 1.3. 2.0 apparently won't work on my computer. -_-

It should still at least be compatible with 2.0, it just doesn't have any of 2.0's extra stuff. Still, thanks a ton for the support!

Also, I've figured out how to make events that stay activated when you activate them, meaning I'll now have a recurring boss between each section of the castle you have to beat before you can progress. (Similar to Bowser's role in Super Mario 64.) The two pictured levels are the new tutorial level that lets you get used to the controls, and Grump Volcano, the game's main fire level. Hope to have even more progress to share with everyone soon! Until then, see ya in the next update!

In other news, I finally have an OS that can run 2.0. I may make an expansion to Mario and the Wizard's Castle at another time which uses 2.0 assets, but the main game will still be fully compatible with 1.3. On that note, here's a Gif I made of the first main course with my new 2.0 abilities.

Things are moving along fairly quickly now, to the point where I think I can confidently say this might come out by the end of the year. Thinking of making a demo version for people to check out beforehand, though. We'll see what happens in the coming months.

That story really got me interested. It's really different, and nothing like any Mario game I've heard of. The levels don't look too bad either, there seems to be nice graphics and good enemy placement. I'll definitely keep an eye on this one!

That looks like a really intresting project based on Screenshots and especially the Story, which as big Relief
for me didn't even envolves Bowser. I will defenitly check it out. If you want any Help with Characters, write me a PM. I'll help gladly πŸ˜‰

Thanks! I think I'll be good on characters, both sprite and character-wise (If only cause I'm cool with recoloring existing graphics to match the characters). I'll definitely keep you in mind if I need anything, though.
