The Silent Fortress

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, but not so new to SMBX.
I love this game and the editor is phenomenal...

Oh, right, the level.
So... I can't find challenging levels like, you know, Super Mario Frustration.
I tried to create one and this is the best I've come up with. :D

I spent 5 hours in total (building + verifying).
The version 1.3.0.1 of the game was used.

This is the link for the download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/z9js9tqmt ... rtress.rar

Is this easy? Or hard?
Every feedback is welcome!

Enjoy.

It’s an easy kazio. Still insanely difficult but nothing like super kazio world and such

Since when does SMBX have a gender? Jk
Anyway this looks hard, but not like a kaizo level. Though if it's your first level it looks decent.

Maybe "his" is referring to Redigit.

Nah, I don't point to recreate a Super Kaizo World, just some challenging levels. ^^

I guess that could be true, though I don't think he knew about him. (I was just joking :p)

I know who Redigit was. :P
I just did an error because it was late for me and I was falling asleep. :D

Silent Fortress Review by Taycamgame
I am testing on 2.0 but most, if not all of what I will mention is still relevant.
Ok. Before discussing the level, I would first like to point out that the use of a world map file is not needed if the level is not part of an episode. That may be something to think about in the future :)
We start the level in a small area where the player needs to jump between two spikes. I admit that I died a few times here. Then we need to jump over a pool of lava, this was a little trickier. It seems a lot of this level revolves around being slow and patient. We then have a tricky section where you need to bounce of a goomba, grab a shell, bounce of the para koopa and hit the ? block.
Pretty hard so far. As the level probably won’t get easier and I am not very good with tough levels like these, I will unfortunately have to base the rest of my review from looking at the level through the editor.
The next part doesn’t look too hard, but then it looks like the player may need to jump off a spring when it is in midair? Then we get to a part with podoboos / lava bubbles. I also see that the player can get trolled and trapped in the next part. The next area sees the player having to jump on koopas and avoid bullet bills, and then after a few tricky jumps is at the Boss door.
It seems the player has to react really fast here, otherwise they will die. The player is then rewarded with a fire flower and a battle against Bowser.
This is a good level but was pretty hard, so i am sorry that i could not review in full.
MAIN REVIEW: show
Gameplay: 4.6/10.
It was a good first attempt at a level, however it is a little hard. Plus it seems that at some points the difficulty drops back down again. This can be good if done effectively however, so keep practising!
Aesthetics: 3.9/10.
You make good use of vanilla objects! However, BGO use was pretty low and there were a lot of cutoffs, especially with the lava tiles. Don’t worry however, once again, with practice you will get better at making levels visually attractive.
Other Things: 6.2/10.
The idea behind this level was meant to be a tough challenge. You certainly did that well! However, since I could not play through the whole thing, I didn’t get to experience everything you offered. The music choice was suitable. Some parts felt a little repetitive however.
Overall: 4.9/10.
It was a decent first attempt at creating a level. I appreciate the hard work you put into this level, however, as it is your first attempt and based on the things mentioned above, you have plenty of room for improvement. Don’t worry though, practice does make perfect!
I look forward to more from you.

I mean, it's his first level and there is plenty that he could improve on.
You could consider this review a tad bias however as i didn't manage to complete it all (too hard). But it was a fun challenge to play through.

He never said it was his first level tho.
I mean you could change the starting position of the level if you can't beat it without judging it blindly like saying "It doesn't look that hard" :)

Ah, read that the wrong way around.
You are new to the forums but not new to smbx. My bad.

I played this level and quite enjoyed it for what it was worth, although the difficulty was a little inconsistent. The second jump was probably the hardest in the level and it was followed by a bunch of really easy challenges, and then a hard one which I actually ended up completing by shell jumping over the lava instead of making the vine come up. Fun level though
