Silent Fortress Review by Taycamgame
I am testing on 2.0 but most, if not all of what I will mention is still relevant.
Ok. Before discussing the level, I would first like to point out that the use of a world map file is not needed if the level is not part of an episode. That may be something to think about in the future

We start the level in a small area where the player needs to jump between two spikes. I admit that I died a few times here. Then we need to jump over a pool of lava, this was a little trickier. It seems a lot of this level revolves around being slow and patient. We then have a tricky section where you need to bounce of a goomba, grab a shell, bounce of the para koopa and hit the ? block.
Pretty hard so far. As the level probably won’t get easier and I am not very good with tough levels like these, I will unfortunately have to base the rest of my review from looking at the level through the editor.
The next part doesn’t look too hard, but then it looks like the player may need to jump off a spring when it is in midair? Then we get to a part with podoboos / lava bubbles. I also see that the player can get trolled and trapped in the next part. The next area sees the player having to jump on koopas and avoid bullet bills, and then after a few tricky jumps is at the Boss door.
It seems the player has to react really fast here, otherwise they will die. The player is then rewarded with a fire flower and a battle against Bowser.
This is a good level but was pretty hard, so i am sorry that i could not review in full.
Gameplay: 4.6/10.
It was a good first attempt at a level, however it is a little hard. Plus it seems that at some points the difficulty drops back down again. This can be good if done effectively however, so keep practising!
Aesthetics: 3.9/10.
You make good use of vanilla objects! However, BGO use was pretty low and there were a lot of cutoffs, especially with the lava tiles. Don’t worry however, once again, with practice you will get better at making levels visually attractive.
Other Things: 6.2/10.
The idea behind this level was meant to be a tough challenge. You certainly did that well! However, since I could not play through the whole thing, I didn’t get to experience everything you offered. The music choice was suitable. Some parts felt a little repetitive however.
Overall: 4.9/10.
It was a decent first attempt at creating a level. I appreciate the hard work you put into this level, however, as it is your first attempt and based on the things mentioned above, you have plenty of room for improvement. Don’t worry though, practice does make perfect!
I look forward to more from you.
