How to add custom music for both level and boss fight.

Postby Fuyu » Thu Apr 10, 2014 2:43 pm

Ok, so I basically want the boss fight to take place in the same section as the level. Whenever you get close enough to the boss, you get locked in a room and the boss music starts playing, pretty SMB3ish. And, when the boss fight is over, the normal level music starts playing again. Problem is that I want to use custom music for both level AND boss fight, so I don't know how to switch them properly. Any ideas?

You may only use one custom music file per section. More require a change in standard smbx music.

The only way to do that is to change the SMBX music in the folder "music".

Very well, I'll have to see what I can do then. Thanks, this can be locked.

You could clone the boss section and put different music in each copy. Link the sections together by covering the floor in instant warps that take you to the same spot in each room. You'll need two sets of warps, each on its own layer. The first set should be for entering the boss section, and the second one for leaving it. The first should appear a little after you get locked in the normal room, and hidden before the fight ends, while the second should appear at the end of the fight.

I also thought about that, but the transition would look weird anyways, so I'm sticking with making another section, thanks for the tip anyways.

Just a heads-up - if you clone a section the newly cloned section will be dislodged by around 0.2 block spaces and you will probably have trouble adding to that section. Your best bet is to follow Chad's method and use instant warps but rather than clone the section instead just physically redo the area in another section from scratch. That way the transition will be smoother.

I've heard if you resize the clone section from 18.75 block height to 19 block height before you clone (save before trying this), it clones just fine.
