I can't save my game

If I close SMBx my saves are lost

Open the menu using your assigned Pause key and select "Save and Quit". Also, check the episode folder to see if .sav files have been created.

This hardly helped, and maybe some things like this aren't that obvious to users who are new to the program. Don't bother replying if you're just trying to make someone look stupid when they need help.

Maybe you entered a cheat code? If you don't want to lose your progress even if you cheated, type this.

Secret Code: show

And then pause your game in the world map screen and then press save and quit.

Where are your main SMBX files located? If it's under your program files, programs depending of your permissions of your computer they tend to get lost with those files whenever it has been saved on SMBX. Try to move your SMBX folders out and put it inside your User data folder instead of your hard drive or so... desktop is in my retrospect your best option for now. Also very easy to get access to. If that's not the case then be aware of saving the files/games without cheating anything during your playthrough or if those levels are unable to save because you didn't get the goal or transfer from one level to another reliably. Hint: If you die you don't save your progress!
