M39 - Terror is Around Every Corner - Player Analysis.

Postby Witchking666 » Wed May 17, 2017 3:18 pm

M39 - Terror is Around Every Corner
20 Players.

The Town wins!

The setting, the middle east. The Time, 2046. After the government fell, a group of dangerous terrorists took control of the land. They have been supressing the population to follow their insane religious doctrines. Public executions and torture are happening around the clock for rediculous reasons. The military was sent to resolve the conflict. For now, they haven't succeeded however. Even though the military killed countless terrorists, it seemed like the number of deaths only became higher. When the military found out what was going on, it was already too late. An unknown warlord was recruiting people and using them to take control of the land himself. The soldiers, now trapped in two armed conflicts suddely had to deal with an even bigger threat to their lives.

Role Discriptions
Spoiler: show
Terrorists:
-Captor: Can take someone hostage every night, roleblocking and inspecting them at the same time. Can only do this on the same player once.
-Suicide bomber: Can kill someone in a suicide attack once during the game. If someone is protecting the targetted player at night they will die too.
-Sadist: May use extreme violence on the mafia's kill victim every other night. Making them cardflip Black.
-Propagandist: May broadcast a message through the host every night. The message is indistinguishable from the journalist's.

The Military:
-General: May either protect, kill or roleblock someone every night. They cannot use the same ability twice in a row. Due to their high rank the general has a unique cardflip colour.
-Spy: Can use a drone to find out someone’s cardflip colour every night.
-Journalist: May broadcast a message through the host every night. The message is indistinguishable from the Propagandist’s.
-Rogue: Can kill someone without authorization every night, if they kill an innocent, they will lose their ability and cardflip red for a single night.
-Medic: May visit another player every night. Protecting them from death.
-Dissector: Can anatomize a dead player and learn their exact role every other day.
-Executioner: May once during the game either cancel the lynch or host a second one.
-Corporal: Lynch vote counts double.
-Soldier: Nothing special, can cast a lynch vote.
-Soldier:
-Soldier:
-Soldier:
-Soldier:
-Hated Soldier: A Soldier with a bad reputation. Thinks he is a regular soldier
-Outsider: A Soldier from a different unit, the other soldiers don’t trust him that much. Thinks he is a regular soldier.

Third Party:
-Warlord: May kill a player every night. If for some reason or another the kill attempt fails the target’s alignment and cardflip colour will be changed into that of the Warlord. The Warlord’s recruits will keep any ability they had before their conversion except for the the Sadist and the medic, they will lose their abilities. The General is immune to conversion by the Warlord. The Warlord cannot be nightkilled by anyone but the suicide bomber. The Warlord and his recruits win by being the last man/men standing or by outnumbering the town.

Player Analysis
Spoiler: show
Glitch4, The Journalist: Glitch4 was killed night 1, so there isn’t really much to say here. He did however make the questionable decision not to post a message during the night. This resulted in the town misinterpreting the propagandist’s message as the journalists. In hindsight I don't think we should have expected Glitch4 to be active.

thehelmetguy01, the Propagandist
: Weird enough, both the propagandist and the journalist died night 1. For someone who was killed night 1 thehelmetguy01 made a huge impression on the game though. Partially thanks to his fellow Mafiosi, thehelmetguy01 wrote a simple mind trick message trying to get the doublevoter to claim in the thread. It actually worked, King of Eternity did claim, but the best part was that Glitch4 did not put up a message. Causing everyone to mistake thehelmetguy01’s message as glitch4’s.

MosaicMario, the Captor: Mosaicmario was a pretty unlucky soul this game. At first, he was playing pretty well. He kidnapped Zeldamaster night 1 and found out he was blue. On day 1 MosaicMario put a safety vote on the101marioguy because he was acting a bit weird (lynching is mandatory after all). This reasonable decision would soon turn into one of the biggest flamewars in SMBX mafia history. MosaicMario was harassed and threathened by the101marioguy. They both placed a vote on each other before the101marioguy was banned. Sad enough the flamewar caused the town to lynch MosaicMario without having any leads. Even though this is all very unlucky for MosaicMario it must be mentioned that he probably could have stopped his unfair lynch with ease.

the101marioguy, a vanilla townie: the101marioguy doesn’t deserve a death message, let alone a player analysis.

Practicalshorty, the Hated Soldier
: Welp, there isn’t much to say here. Practicalshorty was killed by the third party before she got the chance to do anything meaningful.

Zeldamaster12, the Spy: Zeldamaster was dealt one of the most important town roles. Unfortunately for him MosaicMario found out his colour night 1. This made the mafia aware of him being a blue before he could really do anything. He did try to inspect Pseudo (the sadist) but he was killed that exact same night.

doesntpostverymuch, the Outsider
: doesntpostverymuch was lynched and for the longest of times the town actually thought they got rid of the third party. He was extremely paranoid and ended up causing a lot of suspicion from the town’s side. In future games I recommend doesntpostverymuch to act cool even when you feel like you are about to get lynched. That way people are more likely to drop their suspicions than when you go apeshit the minute you get mentioned as a lead.

HenryRichard, the Dissector: HenryRichard played pretty well, he was just constantly one step behind the mafia. He dissected Glitch4, who cardflipped blue. But failed to dissect thehelmetguy01, who was believed to be miller at the time. He also waited for a long time before he claimed to King of Eternity, thus making him unable to help the blue alliance much before he died night 3.

Waddle Derp, the Suicide Bomber: Waddle derp ended up dying before he could use his ability. And that is a shame because he was going to use his ability the night he died if the other Mafiosi wouldn’t have talked him out of it. Even more of a shame was that Waddle Derp was about to use his ability on Megar (the Warlord) night 1. This too was talked out of his head by the other Mafiosi. Overall Waddle Derp played relatively well, he should have just listened to his gut more.

Sanct, the rogue: Sanct didn’t really do much during the game. He claimed to King of Eternity relatively soon and he stayed a member of the alliance until he died. He took down Waddle Derp in the night he was killed by the mafia himself. He was strategizing pretty well in the alliance group and was overall a good player.

PixelPest, The Medic: The doctor decided to self-protect night 1, this eventually became his downfall. He got attacked and it was revealed a kill attempt was made. After this occurrence no one really trusted him anymore. Surprisingly he still managed to survive until Day 3 before being lynched. Even though PixelPest wasn’t recruited he caused more harm to the alliance than he offered protection. Most of the discussion that occurred in the alliance group was about whether or not PixelPest and King of Eternity were trustwortyh, which distracted the alliance from actually important matters. Overall PixelPest did a pretty good job this game. Especially because he simply refused to die.

Pseudo, the Sadist: Pseudo was lynched day 4 and with her death, the mafia died too. She was giving off the impression that she was involved with the alliance but not an actual part of it. And since the alliance was quickly dying out it wasn’t that much of a stretch to assume she might be the one causing it. The sadist did get a good hit on Zeldamaster12 (the spy) before she died though. Pseudo and Waddle Derp did a lot of strategizing together. Most of this strategizing resulted in good tactics and plans but Pseudo also convinced Waddle Derp not to use his ability until it was too late. Pseudo is the Mafia MVP, but she didn't play much better then the rest of the mafia.

KrazyKat, a vanilla townie: KrazyKat didn’t post a lot until he was killed by the General. He was one of the most valuable townies though because almost every post he made contained some sort of lead. Good playing right here.

Spinda, the Executioner: For once, Spinda wasn’t immediately killed as soon as the game started. Instead, he became one of the most valuable blues. After a bad lynch killed the doctor Spinda decided to skip to the next day phase and eliminate the mafia in the process. I admit that I made a lot of mistakes when it came to Spinda’s role but he managed to work around them really well. Spinda did get killed for being a good player again, but this time a lot later in the game.

Tltimelord, a vanilla townie: Alright, let’s address the pink elephant in the room. I am still pissed at TLtimelord. When he felt like he was about to get lynched He became desperate. He tried to survive by copying PM history and threatening to post screenshots. When all of that didn’t work he proceeded to betray my trust by leaking private DM’s for no apparent reason. I am still very mad at TNT for this. But even though I am usually not really the forgiving type I am prepared to give TNT another chance. Now, let’s get back to talking about the game! TLtimelord was partially responsible for the mafia’s death because he made a good lead against Pseudo which resulted in her being lynched off. So, even though TNT did some pretty unforgivable things he did play really well from a strategic point of view.

Danny, The General: I don’t really know what to say about Danny. He made some pretty great decisions and ended up being the one to confirm Megar as third party. On the other hand he also figured it would be a good idea to kill someone during the first night. And as we all hopefully know, it’s not the best thing to kill night 1 when you are a town killer. Danny never joined the blue alliance because he never fully trusted King of Eternity. And when the blues just wouldn’t stop dying it seemed like Danny’s suspicions were confirmed. Danny is town MVP because he is the one to secure the win for the town. He did do some very questionable things though.

King of Eternity, the Corporal: And the reward for the worst alliance leader ever goes to… King of Eternity!
The doublevoter managed to create a blue alliance by claiming publicly very early in the game. He was very fucking reckless however. King of Eternity decided to throw all of the claimers into the same PM. King of Eternity would have destroyed the alliance before it was even formed If one of those claims would have been false. After the alliance had formed the discussion about whether or not King of Eternity and PixelPest were innocent dominated the alliance group. So, even though King of Eternity did create the blue alliance. It can be argued that he harmed it more than he helped it.

MECHDRAGON777, a vanilla townie: Mechdragon’s playing skills have improved dramatically in the recent games. He played really well this game and ended up being one of the last two remaining townspeople. He was a bit suspicious in the eyes of ShadowStarX later in the game, but it can be argued that ShadowStar was influenced by the third party too much. Mechdragon played almost flawlessly and he is the Vanilla MVP.

ShadowStarX, a vanilla townie: ShadowStarX managed to survive for the entire game together with Mechdragon. But while the latter played a near perfect game, the former for sure didn’t. ShadowStarX was manipulated by Megar to the point where he started seeing Megar as a “confirmed townie”. Unknowingly ShadowStarX was making plans for the Warlord. The only reason ShadowStarX managed to survive for this long is because Megar felt like he could still use him later on. Eventually ShadowStarX did begin to suspect that he had been helping the warlord but he only became certain when the game had ended and Megar came up yellow.

Megar, the Warlord: This guy needs a goddamn cookie. Even though the Warlord could theoretically recruit other players to his side, it’s true strength was to create a shitload of confusion. Every time a kill attempt would fail people would be afraid that the targeted player was recruited by the warlord. The possibility of creating recruits would also demotivate the doctor to use their ability. It wasn’t long until Megar figured this out. His strategy for most of the game was very simple: he didn’t have one. Megar decided to kill randomly so nobody could trace the kills back to him. Nothing pointed at the third party being an experienced player after all. Megar wasn’t suspected at all until very later in the game. ShadowStarX even considered Megar a “confirmed townie” for a while. Overall Megar has shown ridiculously good playing this game. His strategizing and planning was insanely effective and he almost managed to win as a third party. MVP of the entire game right here.

Congratz for the town and even more for Megar, the Warlord.
If he hadn't been roleblocked I swear I would have lynched mechdragon on day 7.

okay, so how was it possible to lynch Danny? Why wasn't he confirmed from the very beginning when the alliance was started, and why did KoE place a vote on him?

well if I hadn't had a trip I could have clarified that Danny was the general
but I mean we've won and that doesn't change the fact of Megar doing a great job at hiding

Yeah, I was idling the thread and #mafia channel all day wondering why you wouldn't defend yourself more. You've had a chance; like Danny elaborated, a clever TP could just have decided not to kill and see who the general tried to roleblock.
