(WIP) Untitled Episode

update12/5/2015: Starlake is done, gonna work on the upcoming section "Goomba Forest"!

Work in progress, might change later.

Hi everybody, this is my first episode ive ever made and id love all the criticsm i can get.

Lemme be quick here, this episode is easy and could be done fast, its made for people who just want a quick game or new people, but its still work in progress. So lets do it like this:
-Try to finish it as fast as possible.
-Get all secrets.

Planned stuff.

I was posting about the WIP thing but guess what I'm ninja'd. :lol:
I'm only looking at the screenshots for now, I'll try to play it later.
I like the black glasses on the yellow goombas but there is some black pixels on the animation which look weird, did you make it yourself ? I am curious.
It still gives them a badass look. 8-)
On the first screenshot, the placement of the yellow SMW blocks looks weird, is there a logic behind ?
On the map screenshot I can see a big cutoff at the end of the river. :o

Thanks for the amazing feedback, keep in mind its very WIP but anyway im gonna come with some answears.

1. All the graphics are from the Community graphics pack, some errors you wont just notice.
2. I just now noticed that blocks placements normally are 3 blocks high, gonna fix that in future levels.
3. There is block to make it look better, nothing to do about that.

This is surely because on the world editor you chose to set the first level (green hill 1) as the beginning of the game, it always makes the paths already opened for the next level (green hill cavern) although you haven't completed the first one.

I'm playing it currently, but I don't know if I should since you maybe have already corrected some stuff like the ? blocks height placement.


About the first level : The water tiles making it able for Mario to swim at the end are misplaced at the border, like I'm on the ground near the water (but not in) and you can swim, which is not something you want.

There is this one hole where you can walk on the lower border of the screen, without any visible block, and just near it (like 1 block to the right), there is an actual pit of doom where a jumping goomba with wings fall in :

Then there is a goomba generator which at first sight should protect something valuable, but there is absolutely no bonus in this very little zone, the blocks contain nothing.

Also the background tiles of the SMW end bar are strangely placed (in the second level you've done the same thing with the midpoint).


The levels are VERY short as you said it, you should definitely work a lot more on them before releasing the beta episode because there is not much to say about them (except the errors I've pointed).

Other stuff :
The yellow goombas when they die or are stomped by Mario have the basic goomba animation whereas they should have the custom yellow goomba one. It has something to do with the effect animation of the goombas.
There are cutoffs like for pipes, and corners or ground tiles in Fraglands 2 are fucked up.
In Deep Prismsea, you can skip the little water section by swimming on the top of the screen.

Its kinda weird yeah, gonna look into it.
Gonna try fixing that.
The block heights are increased in upcoming levels. But im gonna change it yes.
The place where you can walk is meant, there is a NOT SO secret 1 up.
I dont remember the goomba generator, thanks for telling me.
Upcoming levels are longer.
Cant do anything about the goombas and tiles in Fraglands 2, which is kinda dissapointing but yea. :/
I noticed the thing i Deep Prismsea, just didnt fix it yet.

I thank you so much for the amazing feedback. Keep in mind that the 2 first level (greenhill) were made in 2014, where i had no exprience with the game. Prismsea and further are much newer.
