Yeah, the one in the green slimy maze is just an empty lamp, and I said that there were only 2 checkpoints in the whole game. Could be on my end that they aren't appearing.

there was no mushroom genie, only the lamp. one of the previous levels did have a checkpoint which makes the total number of them in the game 3 so far.

Yes that Star is for the castle.
I really don't know whats up with your checkpoints being missing they are all there. It would be helpful if Cedur or somebody else could verify that.

Its for the castle you can see on screen below it. Not sure if it would be difficult to find in the level or not.

Oh yeah for sure,the whole episode started with a painting thats hanging on my wall now. It wasn't the first level that was made but it inspired everything to start. I never would have thought to look for a mario maker engine without that having happened. Thats why its an surrounded by pipes named Mystic's Origin.

edit- Those water levels below if its the ones i think your talking about arn't reachable through world 3 so I wouldn't worry about it until way later on when you take the back path, it will eventually lead you back to the oasis.

that's a quite neat story. is it the painting in the intro level?
one more thing, the pipe in world 3 leads to a fire world, is that world 6?

The path that leads to Nowhere (the firey world) are actually World 8 but you are close with the guess of World 6 because I put two fire worlds in the episode.

Where's that painting from? so great to see that the piranha plants look nearly identical to the ones from the painting.
Should I play world 8 or save it for later and continue playing world 4?

Its some randomness from out of my head, I drew it up so my friend could paint it in for practice.
You might as well explore that little side detour in world 8. it doesn't lead deep into the world and only unlocks fully later on. World 4 is the way forward, sucks your way points are on the fritz though at least most levels arn't that long.

interestingly, the level with 3 wolves didn't have a checkpoint, but the one right after, the one with 2 wolves had one.

Fort Fungus, the most frustrating without the checkpoint so far, lost 10 lives, but made about 40 because of the bonus rooms.
My way of completing: get to the yoshi, go left, grab the steak, go to the left bonus door and yoshi jump to it, get the tanooki, go to the beginning and fly upwards to the 3up and clown car, use the clown car and the key to beat the bird, yoshi jump without using peach or Luigi, get the 1ups, go inside the castle and beat the boss.

Can I get the list of levels with a secret exit from worlds 1 through 5?

Nina whats good seems impossible to me. am I supposed to do anything to trigger the wall to disappear?

^ never mind, thought the door was a one screen bonus room

Uhh, I appear to be stuck at the world 5 ghost house. after entering the boss door, nothing happens. there is a blue door surrounded by walls and that's it.

how do you get the world 5, giant level star?

got it by tail swiping the blocks.

could I possibly get a star gate lists?

I know 2 star, 4 star. 8 9 and 12 star ones and genie gate
out of the ones I didn't unlock, I only saw a 15 star one. where are the rest located?

Frying pan flambi gives me a runtime error 9: subscript out of range each time I start it. making it one of the 3 levels impossible to beat in my playthrough including the intro level and W5 ghost house.

the error is caused when too many things are happening at one screen. ex. enemy spam, powerup spam etc. or mushroom falling in lava glitch. However this error is fixed in smbx2 so I guess I should move my playthrough to there?

ported to smbx2, will probably continue there from now on, the level is no longer giving me the error.

edit: after porting to smbx2, all checkpoints are working. I'll start a new save to see if the mushroom genie is there in the intro level

edit: yep, the intro level is working. must have been some weird issue with smbx 1.3. only impossible level so far is W5 ghost house then.

EDIT: replayed ambush and world 5 ghost house, both work now. ambush spawns a key and the world 5 ghost house now spawns enemies that when you kill the door opens up.

interestingly, the game's most broken on the version it's most recommended to play on :p

uhh, how do you damage the lazy nutcase boss? I completed it with the help of an ice flower, also, why is the hitbox at the bottom?

this episode uses a lot of old songs ( mr. sandman, leader of the pack etc.) why's that?
speaking of musical themes, what's the theme that appears a lot in cloud levels, first time appeared in world 1 in John Silver or something like that.

The castle seems a bit bland for a star level. maybe make another section for the star?

Unless a bunch of people request this I stand by my statement lol. Your right though, its the one place that really could have used more content.

I will pm you with any secret exits world 1-5 I can think of as well as the gate list.

I'm glad to hear porting to SMBX2 worked for you, but uh.. I think there may have been a problem with your ver.1.3 no runtime errors or missing check points are in other playthroughs or test plays.
Did you have a bunch of other programs opened at the same time maybe? I am sure this episode works fine on 1.3

The boss in Lazy Nutcase has a very small hitbox near the ground. Its a remade boom boom from SMB3. At first I wanted to fix it then realized it adds to the fight, and the hitbox won't change for me. Kudos using the ice flower to beat it.

About the music, the songs were suggested by a friend and I wanted to honor their input, also I think they are classy old songs that just belonged and added a bit of humor.
Lets see the song in Jimmy Silver and a few others, I think Nina whats good also has it came from Final Fantasy 2's Mist cave. A really fine track.

Ah yes. Theres only 2 in the entire episode both in world 2. Plex Rex Palace and Wartsonsworth. They both have secret exits but theres no indication on the map. Is that what you mean?

This level sucks has a bit too much enemies in the two metroid worms section.

What do you think of the episode so far? It sounds like you've beaten most of it.

Oh yeah, still have a bit of world 8 and 9 left to finish with 23/37 stars. Some levels were hard without external powerups (like boom boom and larry fight in the cave level) but I managed to beat them after a few attempts.
