I just mean that I wouldn't expect them to offer an engine similar to or better than that of SMBX. They kept it simple, so as to say "Here's this thing you can play with," rather than "Use this to make your own entire Mario game."

No it's not only a SMB1 editor, you can switch to NSMBU graphics, now. Look at the trailer.

I've been waiting a long time for Nintendo to finally give us something like this. Hopefully it has a lot of features.

Why do people hate on this so much?
My opinion is:
Nintendo made this as a simple game to play for bored people. Not a full SMB/NSMBU level editor that lets you make your own Official Mario game.
An experimental app like Mario Paint. Mario Paint was simple and wasn't meant to be an actual Paint app, like PAINT.NET, or Gimp.
People need to stop sh***ing all over hating on this. I know SMBX is more creative and innovative, but Nintendo was making it super simple on purpose - They don't want to make a full editor like SMBX.
Maybe some people need to wake up and realize this. Just, my opinion. Agree with me or not, It's what I believe.

Where did that come from? By no means am I hating on this game, I'm actually excited for it regardless of how many features it has. Its just a hope of mine that it has a lot.

If you weren't talking to me, then disregard this message.

Because they have no soul and the presence of one offends them.

Don't quote me on this, but there might be custom power-ups. The trailer shows a tall, thin mushroom that makes a weird sound and changes Mario's powered-up sprite to a stretched-out version of his small form.

It was a glitch.

They rolled with it.

That's probably some kind of new power-up, though. It didn't look very custom to me.

Why add something pointless like that, though? It just looks like a weird version of the normal Super Mushroom that plays an odd sound when you get it. I suppose it could do something interesting, though.

As DarkMatt said, the thin mushroom was a glitch and they decided to keep it in the game, like the double cherry in 3D World.

What makes you think it's a glitch?

Mariowiki said this: The slim mushroom actually comes from a bug that happened in development that made Mario skinny.

Edit: Almost 700 posts...

Yeah, this is what the Mario Wiki page has to say about it. It still probably provides some kind of interesting ability, though.

Did none of you actually watch the stream tuesday?

It was a glitch they glorified into an easter egg.

There will be more visual styles to Mario Maker, according to Nintendo, so we can expect SNES visuals/other game visuals. Also, the producer said there will be a lot more features included in it. The version at the show floor was probably very dumbed down.

That's nice, everything you said.

As I said like, 3 to 4 days ago? It's worth coming back later down the line to see how it's going.

I think it's a good thing and a big step for Nintendo, but I'm not particularly excited for this personally, since the community has tools like SMBX and Lunar Magic that are a lot more powerful and versatile.
