Portraits added will be in a custom background later, but I'll probably import them into bgos too.

Wow, ProxyHax, this tileset is looking fantastic! I love how you were able to blend custom graphics with ripped graphics so well. The ripped graphics are from Wario Land 4, right? You certainly were able to match the amazing style the games has. Great work!

While I was working on my SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive style Luigi sprites, I was also working on some tiles & backgrounds, also in 16-bit Mega Drive style.

So here's the "Overworld" tileset that I am currently working on, which is a 16-bit Mega Drive enhancement of the original Super Mario Bros. 1 overworld tiles:

P.S. And I know the big tile below the sizable tile looks like shit, I was having some trouble with the shading.

oh wow, that looks pretty good, but yeah the big tile needs work. I don't see why you can't just use the same shading for the big one and the small ones though.

Well.... I'm kinda bad at making big graphics, let's just say that

Greetings.
Now I am getting somewhere.

The uppercase alphabet is set to 15 x 12 pixels. So it would leave 4 pixels between the lines. Nonetheless it remains unpleasant to read, no matter how well letters are designed. I still would always go for an empty line in between, if I tend to use it for storytelling. Which probably not. There is other fun stuff, it would be perfect for. And I could have 2 different color designs. 2 different textures possible too.

I am quite happy with the outcome of my improved first font. I stick with one line in between. This time I used the full 15 x 16 pixels of SMBX. I know that the original font uses sometimes 17 x 16 pixels. Well it shrinks a 17 pixel width to 15 and things start to look terrible.

As long as I have no concept for a project in mind, this little something reached a currently finished state.
I am not quite sure yet what I exactly wanna do. I know that it is no Mario related stuff, howsoever.

have fun

[Update]: I added a few extras to my Sega Genesis/Mega Drive-style GFX collection I shared about 3 days ago:
  • Edited the big tile in this pack to a 3 by 3 background pattern (Only because i was having trouble with the 16-bit shading  )
  • Added some fences
  • Added a 32 by 96 pixel platform
  • Inserted some Mushroom BGOs, might work on the Mushroom tiles when I get a chance! ^_^"
  • Hazardous spikes
Image

More updates coming whenever!

If the 3x3 is a bgo i would suggest giving it more contrast from the tile version, because it looks like a normal 3x3 platform at the moment.
But the rest is looking really good, and i'd like to use these when they're done.

I added some MORE graphics to my SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive graphic collection!
And here's what's newly inserted to it (As of 10/06/2018):
  • A happy cloud! ^_^
  • Red Vases that i actually tried to make SMB2 style, but decided, "Fuck it, I'm just gonna not bother with the patterns anyways! "
  • Some Yin-Yang Blocks that i made just for the heck of it*

*To be honest, the Yin-Yang pattern was the first thing to come to mine when making the blocks. Hope no one who's Buddhist gets offended.

I would have made the yin yang blocks 1x1 instead of just 4x4, which limits the possibilities with them. Or, just make another block which is a 1x1 yin yang.
The tileset is looking pretty neat though, so keep it up!

If I make the yin-yang blocks 1x1 pixels, then the whole SMBX community might criticize it! But thanks anyways. I'm hoping to publish this tileset on December if i get the chance! ^_^"

Not 1x1 pixels, i mean a single block rather than a 4x4 grid of blocks.

The graphics look cool , i am only wondering in what type of level would they fit in? My best guess is a forest or a temple combined with a forest.

Thanks! I originally wanted the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive to be a 16-bit enhanced remake of Super Mario Bros. 1 NES tiles. But I guess these would fit in a forest-like level! ^_^

Mario and Luigi's house from Superstar Saga (WIP)

I'm currently working on a recreation of Mario and Luigi's house from superstar saga for the new adventure I'm working on which I sadly can't show any pictures of just yet as it's REEEEEEEALLY far from complete. I've only finished one level so far (so productive right lmao). What do you guys think of it? Also, if anybody's interested, I can upload all the graphics to a google drive folder once everything is complete.

Posting wip graphics is really hard if you're done after half an hour.
So here's just something that didn't exist earlier today and was done without any specific use cases in mind.
Darkonius found a use for it though so that's good.

Now that's a Background image that's 100% faithful to the original source from the hit 32-bit GBA Game: Mario & Luigi RPG 1!
