M7: Host Sign-Ups

The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

@KoolKat: We do indeed have to get our games approved by other Game Masters before posting them here, according to Joey. Both FallingSnow and I had our games approved early on.

Also, I have reviewed a couple of games, but mostly yesterday. I think I might've done one this morning as well.

If you're submitting Monofia, I'm just going to say that:

1: Hosting twice in a row seems a bit much
2: why do you make games that are so drastically different from normal mafia that they defeat the purpose of it

Sorry if I sounded rude, but others share my concern as well (I'm looking at TNTtimelord)
Explain why you just threw my name out there. I understand where but I'd much rather you ask for my permission to back you up.

Also, a faction type of game is just a different type of mafia game. We've done it before (although, I'm not saying it turned out well). As long as you know what your doing as a host, anybody should be able to without dissent or pressure.

Anyone can feel free to host this.
Blue Bomber wrote:This is my game:
My concept of Mafia that works well with a money gimmick. This game is created by me, but you can choose to host this game if you'd want.

M7: Monofia
Mafia
Assassin: Can choose to kill one person at night.
Arsonist: Can burn someone's house down if that person has one. Burning a house down kills the people whom the house belongs to and all people who visited him that night.
Bartender: Can pretend to give someone a medkit and the host will say during the day phase that the this person was given a medkit, but he was really inspected for his color and was never given a medkit.

Town
Mayor: Is usually the richest player in the game. He gets to "tax" people so that he gets $2 from each remaining player each night. His votes also count as two.
Sheriff: Can inspect any player for their color. Can be paid $20 by someone to inspect someone and tell that player what he found out.
Night Officer: Can visit someone at night to see who visits that person, too. Can be paid $20 by someone to visit someone and tell that player what he found out.
Townsperson: A player with no special abilities.
Townsperson: A player with no special abilities.
Townsperson: A player with no special abilities.
Townsperson: A player with no special abilities.
Townsperson: A player with no special abilities.
Miller: A normal townsperson with a red cardflip color.
Millwright: A normal townsperson with a yellow cardflip color.

Third Parties
Banker: Can choose any person at night to give $20 to. Knows all the roles of Mafia and Town.
Robber: Can rob someone of all their money. If he robs the Banker, he gets $200 plu all the money the Banker has.
Mason: Can build a house for anyone he chooses for $50. He can also build himself a house for the same price. Knows all the roles of Mafia and Town.
Bounty Hunter: Can kill someone at night for $30 if someone asks him to. Can do up to three kills at night.

Purchasable Items:
Medkit --- $75: Can be used at night to save yourself from death. Can be transferred to someone if purchased for whatever price the owner thinks of. Can be used only once.
House --- $50: A house can only be bought from the Mason. It gives you and everyone else visiting your house a 50% chance of surviving a night kill. Can be transferred to someone if purchased for whatever price the owner thinks of. Can be used for ever.
Doubler --- $60: Allows you to get double the money you earn for a night Can be transferred to someone if purchased for whatever price the owner thinks of. Can be used only once.
Tripler --- $90: Allows you to get triple the money you earn for a night. Can be transferred to someone if purchased for whatever price the owner thinks of. Can be used only once.
Gun --- $35: Gives you a gun to protect yourself at night. If someone tries to visit you, you can choose whether to kill him or not. Can be transferred to someone if purchased for whatever price the owner thinks of. You can use this only once if fired.

Rules:
-You get $20 every day for surviving the previous night.
-If a Mayor or Robber is robbed of all his money, he stays as a Mayor/Robber and continues to use his abilities.
-You can become a Mayor once you reach $150.
-You can become a Robber once you reach $150.
-You can choose whether to become a Robber or mayor when you get $150. Once you choose, you lose your old role abilities if you had any.
-A Bounty Hunter cannot use his own money to kill someone.
-A Banker doesn't own the Bank money, but if robbed, he has to give a robber $200.
-PM the host if you want to buy something excluding a house.
-Mafia wins if Town is dead.
-Town wins if Mafia is dead.
-Third Parties win if they are the last ones standing as a group.
-Third Parties cannot take part of any team, thus they cannot vote to lynch.

On IRC, you complained how Blue Bomber's games are so drastically different from normal Mafia (I agreed)
And yeah, factions games aren't a bad thing, it's just that we don't really need more of them.

Hee hee yay poll went up I wanna play!!
Though you people love this game, and I can tell. Everybody here crowds the spots in a game!!
I remember playing Mafia somewhere else and having half a day before anybody realized that a mafia game was up.

I made reviews of games. I'm not a game master, but I wanted to tell everybody what I felt about their games.

I like koolkat's train ride game. It's a unique concept and the hobo role is pretty cool. Not too many players and not to few: 15-20 is usually good IMO.
I also liked the idea of Pseudo's game, but everyone could end up lynching the player with the "Necromancer" role and Game over.
FallingSnow's game was nice, and the pictures really helped with trying to figure out what each role looked like even though we don't need pictures because Mafia doesn't use pictures, but I'm thinking, maybe too many town. There's a shit load of other ones and only 4 mafia. I would suggest taking out 1 or 2 townies.
PaperPlayer's game: Average, But a good game to use for ballot box rules. I kinda like this a bit.
Valtries' game: cool, and the faction thing is a little bit underrated, but I would advise going to 12 players. 9 is too small.
Blue Bomber's: Um, nice money system, but I think people will lose track of their money and it would be a total mess...
TNT's game: The same with Blue Bomber's game. Nice events, but a little too many, and keeping track of that as a host would sound like a nightmare to me. just my opinion.

Those were my reviews!!

Well, it's always good to try different things!!
Like painting. I like blue. I love blue. my fav color. (I can guess its the same with Blue Bomber)
And I make blue paintings...
To keep paining from getting stale for me, I start to make red paintings. Then green ones. Then magenta ones.
Then I make a Legend of Zelda four Swords fan art painting.
So I have new things to try. :D

The Host always PMs you what amount of money you currently have after a change in the amount of money you have.

Ohhhhh!! I was so confused, I though you had to keep track yourself. I think it wouldn't have worked if that was the case. Thanks for telling me!!

I still agree with Anphiba. That would be way too many PMs after some point, and honestly it would get a little chaotic.

Yeah, but it still is a nice concept. I think each game is neat and unique in it's very own way.

No actually, you'd hear your current money status after every money change, as a single combined PM, not two separate PMs. The money system is fine and the Host would be the one to really need to keep track of your money for you.

Eh, I still feel like it's too different from normal Mafia.

See, the problem with you is, you think different is bad, which is exactly why you dislike Faction games. If you would give "different" games a chance, maybe you could actually like them. Without anything "different" to be made in Mafia, we would be playing the same game over and over again, and there is no fun in that.

I don't like games that are so drastically different that it basically ruins the point of the game.

Yeah that makes sense. I think it could work, but be sure to keep a notepad with you so you don't have to waste 6 minutes trying to find the right PM!!
I am obsessed with the smiley faces...
Either way, the money is pretty cool. Oh, I think I remember Blue Bomber's little Mafia forum where you play Mafia all the time.
I don't know about it though... I would like to play on the SMBX forums because then that way I can play with everybody. I don't know if everybody has found that yet.

Lets not get into a forum lock or downrep war here.
I think everybody should be able to make their Mafia game different from the others and make them pop out, but not to the point where it's not even Mafia anymore...
