A new Bowser Mode that acts as a sequel to the final part of the game. Even his own full game would be cool!
Difficulty settings - choosing for example, hard mode, would result in either power moons being placed in more difficult locations, more enemies, maybe even a 1 hit mode.
More Kingdoms. Seriously, for the amount of hype Nintendo made, there weren't hundreds of things to do and explore. Zelda BOTW lasted me a month and that didn't include Korok seeds. But Odyssey only lasted about a week, which is a shame since I do enjoy Mario games more.
More Minigame based Power Moons - there weren't enough, and ones that were there were really hard - Jump rope 100 times?
More platforming levels. Most of the platforming sections were inside mini worlds. This is fine, but if more platforming sections were implemented into the main worlds, it would create a great experience.

On a side note, what do you guys think of the new DLC "Luigi's balloon hunt"? Really?! Sure, it's free, but couldn't we have better, longer lasting DLC? Example: The highly requested return of Isle Delfino.

95 of the game's moons are linked to minigames. That's 1/9 of the entire game.

An interactive online minigame can give you more playtime than a new area with a limited amount of content. The DLC is clever and ties directly into the game's worlds. I might pick the game up again.

Luigi's balloon hunt sounds interesting to say the least, and i bet there will be alot of obvious to pop balloons, and they are actually adding the Sunshine Shirt and Glasses that appeared in Super Mario Sunshine, so chances of getting Isle Delfino as a Playable DLC island isn't off the topic board yet

What if we got Super Luigi Odyssey? It would be like New Super Luigi U meaning you explore the same worlds but the moons are different. Nintendo would use the original assets from SMO (just like NSLU) and maybe add a few new ones. Most of the costumes will change to fit Luigi. I’ve already thought of a story for this dlc:

Luigi was watching Mario and Bowser fight on his airship. He wanted to help Mario fight Bowser, but the ship was too high to be able to reach. When Mario was launched to the cap kingdom, Luigi went inside the castle. Inside the castle, he finds a person from the cap kingdom. He says he came to the mushroom kingdom for a vacation, but Bowser invaded and everyone in the mushroom kingdom is really scared without their princess. His vacation was ruined. Luigi and the hat team up like Mario and Cappy to help save the mushroom kingdom. They find a painting to the cap kingdom and enter it.

Luigi will go to each kingdom in the same order as the original. When he gets to each kingdom, the main mission will be different from the originals since Mario already solved those problems before Luigi. For example, when Luigi gets to the moon kingdom, he won’t be fighting Bowser in the wedding hall since Mario already did that. Instead, he fights Bowser outside, because he’s left there after Mario flies away with Peach.
