How did you get ffdshow in the first place btw. Im not that smart about tech so I wouldnt know how it was put on this computer.

Also is there a way to prevent ffdshow from showing smbx notifications?[/quote]

I'm not actually sure about both of your questions. Sorry.

Umm well, what would happen if I removed ffdshow? Would it prevent my computer from producing certain audio sounds ect ect?

I use Windows XP, the same thing appeared for me after I installed a codec pack. I just put this in the ffdshow configs:

But I don't know if this is the same in another Windows.

I put smbx.exe on the list of programs not compatable with it and now the problem is solved. No more crashing, smooth performance and the icons are gone on my item tray.

Yippe! Someone Lock please.

Bossedit8, it could be RAM too. I think he should maybe try something like logging of or restarting so that the RAM goes away. The picture doesn't look like a normal file holding area.

If you are wondering what FFDShow does, it compresses audio. So in SMBX, when a sound is played, FFDShow goes and compresses it. That's why there were so many in your tray. (At least, from what I've been told it does.)
