So, the way costumes work is that they're saved to the episode save file, so unless you somehow ran that code on other episodes too, this does not make sense.

You could try, in the episodes you don't want the costume in, deleting a file named save1-ext.dat, and seeing if that helps.

I've come to the consensus that after a while in 2-player mode the animated sprites seem to be offset.

I think I'll just put this topic to rest for now, restarting SMBX fixes it anyways.
