I'm going to participate!
However, when you say "a kaizo remix", do you mean a completely new kaizo level with the same GFX and gimmick as the original, or do you mean an edit of the original level?
I think I know the answer to this, but I'm still asking.

If you look at the rules, it has to be distinct from the original one, yet recognizable as being related to the original, and creative at the same time. I don't think it matters how you achieve those things, as long as you do somehow. I wouldn't really use the reference level as a template though. Hope that answers your question

Thanks! It really did!
Now I have to figure out what level I'm going to make... out of over 400 levels.

I've already started working on mine. The concept of this contest is really fun. Quite enjoying it

Yup, this will be very fun. I don't played MaGL X and only played the firsts (and best worst) stages. So i'll randomly pick a level from it and do something.
but i think i'll only do my level at the middle of next month, because i'm procrastinating not in my home.

If our level is a Remix of a level styled SMB3 and we use a SMW tileset but keep some of the main concepts, ideas, NPCs (restyled/recoloured SMW of course), etc., could that still score us high points in Familiarity, or would you recommend sticking to the original level's style to score highest points in that category?

i'll join, but this year i'd like for someone else to do the hub(once X2's relay is passed to me i'll be finishing up the X2's hub and calling it a day [ispoiler]it totally has nothing to do with me working 40-60 hours /week[/ispoiler]), so if you wanna do it this year now is a good time to say so o3o.
Pyro wants to do the hub, so unless she changes her mind in some fashion we've got that covered. Peeps can go ahead and offer if they want though, in case that were to happen.
I will offer if that is okay.

Edit: Can we have more than one source?

Needless to say if you go too far with aesthetic changes you run the risk of your level just looking like a completely different level with the same gimmick, but it should be fine if you keep it within reason.

Pyro apparently plans to use some newfangled SMBX testing feature I guess they've put in PGE fairly recently, and since PGE puts the level name field as the tab title...

About a week and a half left - still plenty of time to make a level!

Still finishing mine for sure. Haven't worked on it much, but my exams start Wednesday so I haven't been doing a lot of non-school stuff

It does not look like I can make a level. It will depend on if someone can send me the specific source level I am wanting to reference. I hope this goes well, and I fell bad for not being able to par-take just because I can not get the source materials with my situation. (I can not download any file that can not fit on my phone since I have to use my phone as a download medium and send to my flash-drive. Since Both MaGLX and MaGLX 2 are both larger in file size than my phone can handle. If you want me to participate, I will need someone to send me the level I need for a source.) I am hoping bossedit8 can send me the files, but if you have the episodes and not judging, can you PM me if you can help?

My level is now about done, but it could still use some play testing. It'd be nice if someone has time.

Would it count if it was a remix of a MaGLX level that's not on the list like making a remix of a MaGLX1 joke level's theme?

I think everything else that's not part of that list is fair game
