Honestly, I've been looking forward to this since I saw it. I love SMBX and I'll never leave it for a long period of time, but I had to check out an official Nintendo-made level maker. Now that I see what Mario Maker is capable of, I am definitely willing to try it out. This seems to be the best thing Nintendo ever made.

While I most definitely will be using the other styles, I really want to make a NSMBU Adventure first. Its not every day(other than Reggie, but that's a process) that you get to make levels like this.

Now, I suppose there is two other things we can speculate about:

1. Flying Power-UP: So it has been shown Cape Mario has been included to assist with the conversion of SMB3 to SMW etc, but that leaves a flying power-up for SMB1. There must have to be one considering all items and enemies so far have been redesigned for style conversions. There's been no images or video footage of the SMB1 Flying Power-Up as of yet, but what do you think it might be?

2. Bowser: The same goes for this big lizard, there's a SMB1 version clearly visible in the latest footage, but the style changes before he comes into view. Naturally he'd have style conversions, and that wouldn't be hard since he is already in NSMBU, but that leaves SMB3 and SMW, will he just be re-styled or could the real SMB3 and SMW Bowsers appear in Mario Maker?

I think Bowser might be different, considering how the leaf and cape also have some differences in the details and NSMBU's flying squirrel suit is pretty different from both leaf and cape. Also, you can groundpound in the NSMBU style, and I doubt they'll implement too much from the newer games in the older ones gameplay-wise, only thing I might see coming is Yoshi for the NES games, since he is already confirmed for SMW.

I'm glad Yoshi is confirmed, that was one thing I wanted them to include. Of course with the style conversions all we really assume right now is, that whatever appears, will most likely have a conversion for the other styles, which I would assume will be headed by the NSMBU style for the biggest reason being that it will be easy to make sprites for the other styles than include something like say Boss Bass and have to make a HD model for the NSMBU style. At least that is basically what it appears to be coming down to, but with that said, NSMBU does include a lot of HD enemies that appeared in those earlier games, so if it appears in NSMBU, chances are it could be included with Mario Maker and have new styled sprites for the other styles available.

One thing I'm slightly disappointed about though, is they have seemed to have skipped SMB2 all together, which is surprising considering many of enemies from SMB2 have been quite commonly adopted by later games. Though I think the reason for this might be because it isn't a "true" Mario game, just merely a Mario reskin of a totally different game.

This didn't really surprise me, as SMB2 has specific unique properties to it that makes it the "oddball" of the Super Mario Series. Yes, it is a reskin of Doki Doki Panic, but lets not forget that because of that Japan never really experienced our version of SMB2 until Super Mario USA(as it had been referred to in their country). In the end, you just couldn't match things up by throwing SMB2 into the mix without having confusion, or in another case, differences between versions.

I never actually thought of it that way. That would be an extremely obvious reason though and I wouldn't be surprised if it was. It does seem a shame to not include it, being an influential game in the series, but that would make the conversions pretty confusing. Also I here that there has been a month confirmed for Mario Maker's release.

When this was announced I thought it looked lame and would never have thought they'd take it this far. I'm definitely gonna get this. I'm interested in the new designs they're giving to some characters that didn't appear in some of the four games they're using!

I'd imagine they'd just use the Bowser sprite from SMB3 for the SMB3 version... SMW will be interesting though. They'll probably sprite a smaller version of the Bowser from SMW without the Clown Car.

TBH I'm worried once this is released Nintendo will declare development over. I kinda wish this to be like SMBX where there were updated content.

Maybe they'll do DLC or something though.

DLC would seem terrible for this game. I don't want to buy some DLC just so I can "Play this level that has DLC used in it by buying the DLC Pack! Oh boy! Our Wallets!".

To be honest, the whole DLC isn't that bad once you know how the whole eshop works and if you have enough datas left up on your Wii U console. The only thing we can hope for is the release date which will probably be coming up soon... and if the DLCs are the cases then I would most likely get 'em.

I do hope to get Mario Maker though...

There's a thing known as free DLC also.

Yes, they reel you in with one little "free dlc" item and before you know it, your entire lifesavings is being incinerated by Iwata because "I don't have enough room to store all of this money! Please understand."

On the serious end of the rope here they have used that tactic before, and its not necessarily bad that they do that. Its actually a really smart business tactic. There are just certain games you should and should not have DLC for. This game just doesn't fit the description for me. Its like saying that you had to pay when SMBX updated or you have to pay to play someone's episode.

Free DLC is also known as free updates that you have the choice of downloading.

I've read once that they plan to release it in September, at the Anniversary day.
