Back in 2012 (i think) we tried this before. It lasted for a few issues but we lost interest after a while, and it didn't quite go as plan because let's be honest nothing did.
With news being accessed easily on the internet these days, magazines are really kinda pointless. With the SMBX forums you can just click a project to find the latest news, but with this there are some cool things we could add
and I have a couple of ideas already.
- Interviews with members.
- Crosswords, puzzles, comic strips and maybe competitions with neat prizes?
- In-depth articles and reviews.
- The making of...episodes. A feature where the episode author tells all on their experience of creating an SMBX episode.
- Good banter.
- Advertising pages.
- Exclusive content (?)
- All issues would be on a PDF file so you can download and read offline at anytime.
Suggest more ideas.
Here's a rough idea of a front cover (I do art like this at college but this was rushed).
This is only an idea, and if enough people are on board with it/would want to contribute/ would actually read it, then I don't see a reason why this shouldn't happen. Each issue would be posted monthly in the same thread. simples.

I think it's an interesting idea, but like KarlMarx already said
<KarlMarx> perhaps seasonly, not enough happens in the community to makie it monthly
also 10/10 for that beautiful man on the cover :^)

It's a good idea on paper but, like what happened in 2012, it would probably become inactive.
I would be open to try something like MarioWiki's The 'Shroom (i.e. a wiki-based publication).

The only problem is the SMBX wiki at the moment isn't very active and I'm not sure if people actually read it.
Also I'd want to add cool designs to the magazine and that, which you can't really do with a wiki.

Yeah, I also noticed that. Maybe we could instead have more events regularly, though? Be it different contests or any sort of fun events.
I really like the idea, though, and would love to see this be a thing. I would love to help with something, by the way.

Why would you put GMarinaX on a cover?
Jk, I actually feel like this is a pretty neat idea, and I'd love to see this become reality.

I actually do have an idea for the first monthly magazine article right now. Something like top 100 smbx episodes of all time. Users would PM me (don't do it right now though) over a short space of time (like a month or so) and I'd compile the list for the article. Which would then give it more hits.

100 sounds like a bit much, maybe 50?
Also, how about a section with Level Design tips for the new users and a section where you get insight into a project that is currently in the works? Like, the designers talk about it, some exclusive info etc.

Yeah, maybe just a top-whatever number we conclude list...
As for level design tips, maybe we could also take Karl Marx's tutorial idea into this?

Yes, that is my answer to the poll.
I got the idea like this but due to laziness I don't feel like wasting the time into this. These ideas...similiar to Nintendo Power so that would be awesome if you can call the tile somethin awesome (=SMBXPower=).
Picks like Player's, pro's and dealer's for what SMBX episodes they like is also good suggestion for a magazines (imo).
Besides, how many pages is gonna be in this?

Then it will be SMBX "how to make a level" guide and not magazine -.-

If I got a team of people together then we'd likely have a small sub-forum at mine to work on it there.

I mean that maybe each episode one certain trick to improve your level's design is presented, a magazine is supposed to imclide a variety of things, and including something about Level Design in a Magazine about an engine that is about designing levels seems like a no-brainer.

That doesn't really matter because we can just link to it from a hypothetical discussion topic we'd have on the forums. People would see it, don't worry.

You can, actually. We would also need to stay within the boundaries of the site's design, keeping it simple and not being outrageous.

But I'm an art student and can't help that.

Not sure if i could find time for this but if i did, would you object to me having a section called "The RMN SMBX Ambassador" talking about some of the cool smbx stuff on Rpgmaker.net?

Hey, this would be really cool. Like Joey said though, it needs to have enough support to not die off. I'm all for it though.

I want to be on that team! Every month, I can provide a detailed wall through of a level, to ten levels, of your choice? Also, how about, a top 5 SMBX players of the month competition?
