Making a door locked via events?

Postby ShawnShyGuy » Thu Nov 13, 2014 6:32 pm

...or do I have to do something else?
I'm trying to make something in a little episode involving Bowser saying something about not being able to escape (this runs as an event, btw) and I want it to then play a sound (which it does) and lock a door (which I'm confused with)
I've seen other maps do it. For example, when you clear all the purple blocks and Toad unlocks the door in The Invasion 2? But that's unlocking. Nevertheless, it's possible, right?
TL;DR
I need an event to lock a door.

OK, so first put the door warp, but not the door itself, on a layer.

When the door is supposed to be locked, just create an event that hides the layer with the warp on it.

When you want the door to be unlocked, create an event that shows the layer with the warp on it again.

Hope this makes sense!

There are multiple ways as of how to do something like that. The first Method is by making a Layer and Event that has to do with locking the door right behind you. The Event should show the Door that will look like it has been locked off and also you can make a sound effect inside the Event Window at the near middle bottom right (Called "Play Sound"). After you made the Event, you have 2 ways of how to do it. The first is by using an Axe (or something else) that triggers the Event right where your exit warp is (or at least at the place where the Player really forces to hit the trigger, no matter what they do) or the second way is by adding an Enemy which has it's own Layer and have the event trigger on "Activate" and in event that the Enemy needs to disappear once that is on the screen (which I do this often when you are on a specific point of the Room and locks the screen on to you for certain Stage event but that was just an Example of mine).
