SMBX 64 and a Half (Temp Name)

I was playing Super Mario 64, and then I got the idea of this game. Why don't there be, instead of paintings, there be doors to other worlds and levels? Here, I present:
SMBX 64 AND A HALF.

Progress: He retreats three times, and he's got his own castle on the third floor somewhere. 2¼/4 Levels Done
Progress is slow, but being worked on.
This game shall use the basic vanilla you all know and hate (with recolors when necessary), but the way I'm doing it is a little different. Castle's the hub, and yes, you return there after getting a Star. 130 times (Or more, if you make a mistake, or if you just like the level that much.) There's a Toad that gives you information on many of the stars in many of the levels. Take care to listen to his advice, as it's not always the same. He might even tell you to come into the level to find it. FROM A DIFFERENT LEVEL.
I will post more when I get more done.

You want to help me make the project happen? Well, not the main project anyway. If you want to make levels for me, no stars at all. Levels fitting a "good design" i.e. consistent theme, able to win, and linear or crossroads design, will be heavily considered, and those easy/medium/hard/kaizo/puzzle/secret(as in super mario sunshine secrets) that I like will be put in as Bonus Levels. Yay, an incentive to play, and gets better incentives as you play. Bonus Levels will appear on each floor in their own rooms. I prefer 1 exit, and Dropbox downloads make it easier for me.

If this isn't WIP, then it needs more background objects.

A: This isn't the entire section 1. It's a little incomplete, but as I get near the end of the entire level, that's when I start adding the backgrounds.
B: It is WIP, but I'm also trying to be careful not to overdo the level limits.
I do have a question, though. The detonator npc, when it's pressed, it's activated, right? Or is that the death effect? I need to attach events to it, but I'm not sure how it works...

haha, this takes me back to when i started a project like this. It even looks pretty similar :).
my suggestion is to stick to a reasonable amount of levels if you're making them in true sm64 fashion. Personally I think 12 is a perfect number. Just keep in mind the main reason so few episodes are finished and released is because people get too ambitious.
Good luck with this. That last screenshot looks very cool and interesting.

BATTLEFIELD UPDATE.
@Ace, I counted 15 levels and 5 shorter levels. It will be fine. I believe I can finish. I never finished anything before, that's why this will be the first to be 100% done. If you look in my sig, there's the Super Mario Bros. Redux, but that's not going as fast as this project is. I will also release a demo of SMB Redux once I find the moment of putting the topic in the forum. As for this game, the demo is being worked on. No set date yet, but I'll let everyone know when I'll release it.

It's the Death Effect that you use.
