Okay here's the quick lowdown. I have an idea for a contest to run meself. Problem is, I do not trust a single one of you to judge worth half a damn, so before I begin, (which will be around the time my thread for CC9 ends) I should go poll for contest judges now.
Here is what I ask of ye:
-Submit to me a PM with TWO pieces (reviews) of level critique: one positive, one negative. This is any review for any level you did on this forum. It'd be better if you gave me something that traces both good and bad, but I still need two pieces.
-You will also need to write a short blurb as to why you are better than any other shmuck I know at judging mario levels fairly. Just write about what sets you apart. Don't try to kiss my boots. Also the target length should be a normal paragraph. Don't give me an essay nor give me a sentence or two. Explain why you're a good critic.
And here's what I expect of ye:
-You should be able to judge a good amount of short levels within a week. If you cannot do this because you either don't have the will nor the time then you really shouldn't apply.
-You will need to use a rating system I will give you. We can talk about how it'll come into being, but if you liked how I reviewed levels in
this thread, then you won't mind using it.
-I expect a formal conduct when dealing with anything from working with your fellow judges to interacting with other users to so on so forth. If you start childish shit I am going to put you on the "Never Trust With Anything" list.
After that? You wait. I will pick judges a little before the contest starts. I'll go with either 3 or 5, and this may or may not include me.
As for what it's about? Well, have you ever tried making a short and sweet level in under a week? Now what if I made you use custom graphics I pick out instead of whatever you want? And what if I told you you have to do this 6 times?
Also a notice: Yes. This is considered an official contest if it gets off the ground. I need your help though, so send in those applications.
