Ghost's parable - By MyNameIsEric25 - Reviewed by Kep
Design - 1.5
The design in this level was - sorry if this comes out as rude - pathetic. Your idea of 'oh let me make a ghost house with a bunch of invisible blocks' came off to give you the score of trashcan worthy. Some of the puzzles in this level were downright luck, and on the invisible path to the green switch, you can get permanently stuck if you manage to fall. Just thought I'd say as well, I had to use a Tanooki Suit for this level, the placement for the invisible blocks were so random. Now, I'd say differently if the invisible blocks were placed better and less random and didn't require pure luck of where you jump and what you do. Just don't have unnecessarily sloppy things everywhere in your level; I'm sorry, but it's pathetic. Additionally, how come you have that red switch there? Just so you can make players backtrack for no reason since the red switch does no good? This is an example of giving users unnecessary paranoia. Don't have things there that do no good, please. By the way, just to say, without a leaf or Tanooki, when you hit the yellow switch, it is impossible to get back to the door since the platforming is so extreme. That's about it for design, though. Just try to refrain from having unnecessarily random and annoying block placement, invisible or not, okay?
Placement - 1
This level's placement didn't offer much besides a lack of BGOs (will be explained more in the Atmosphere section) and lack of NPCs as well as coins, pipes, question blocks, and power-ups. In summary, this level just had NO placement at all; all it had was invisible blocks, nearly impossible to get switches due to the complete randomness and sloppiness of the situation, and, well, that's about it. I will give you credit for that amazing Roto-Disk light (will not make sense unless you play the level) which follows you, though. Amazing job executing that. Still, your score was low for this category, even lower than your Design category. Let's see how well you do in terms of Atmosphere.
Atmosphere - 1.5
The atmosphere of this level didn't really look like much of a ghost house, for multiple reasons. First of all, there was no background objects - I mean, none. To be honest I'd add some spider webs, chandeliers, pillars, just anything to make your ghost house feel more like an actual ghost house. Also, try to use more in your level than just simple platforms. Like use a tileset or something. This kind of ruins the atmosphere a bit in my opinion. However, I do think your music selection was amazing and fit the puzzle feel of this level. Great job on it. Otherwise, you did pretty poor on this category. Sorry if you don't like your score you got on it.
Overall - 1.3
Having a very low score, this level is Trashcan quality. Sorry if you're disappointed with your score, though. At least this is an old level and you newer levels are a lot better!
