Activate line-guided platform?

Postby Xirix » Sat Oct 11, 2014 5:07 pm

I know this should be pretty basic but I'm having a silly moment here, how do you trigger the on/off platforms that follow the lines? I know you can do it with a switch block.. somehow, can you also do it with other events? For instance talking to an NPC?

It's possible, but it would likely involve some sort of Koopa Shell generator to hit a block, or just the platform lines disappearing and reappearing in a different position or something.

You can do this with 2 Layers. One of the Layer is a Platform that won't move and the other one will move. Now make a Event that will trigger so it will hide the first Layer and the second Layer will show...

Ah that would be quite easy to do. Just for clarification then, the only way to trigger those moving platforms outside of something like LunaDLL is the corresponding coloured switch?

Tecnically yeah, that is literally it as of how to use them. There is a SMB3 Wooden Platform that you can use as if you like touch it from the top (like if you jump on it) it will move but you can also make him on "ON" all the time so they are always moving as it is on the screen for the first time seeing it.

There's a problem with putting an activated platform in a layer and hiding it. The player won't be able to see it but they'll be able to ride it regardless if the layer was disabled or not. Having a shell between a blue Beach Koopa and a switch block appear like KoolKat said works, I use that method. The Koopa will kick the shell at the switch and the platform will activate and you can make the Koopa and the shell and the switch block disappear when the switch is hit.
