The only reason I come to this thread nowadays is because I want to laugh at the complaints and butthurts here. This is a perfect example.
And the reputation function wouldn't exist if simply PMing would be considered fine. By the way, I've never seen an apology post leading to drama.

Yes, you probably should, no offense. I've gotten like six downreps and didn't come once here to complain about it even though I disagree with the half of them. You got two downreps and came here for each one.

I might've complained for some of my downreps, but I'm kinda used to them. I think we should all appreciate good downreps.

However, some downreps really ARE invalid.

Yes, such as saying "yes" or "no" to anything is an invalid reason. It's kind of funny seeing those kinds of upreps and downreps from people who actually made the rules in the first place.
Also the downreps that are like
"this dude didnt uprep me fek u"

Great point. Just to say, I narrowly missed a board warning for calling someone merely "helpful" when the reputation system first came around and yet the staff gets away from giving upreps/downreps like "yes" and "no".

No one has ever downrepped someone because of that I don't think.

There are some people I could see doing that though.
I basically meant downreps which are really stupid and not even worth the person's time.

Yeah, true. Some of my downreps annoyed me... We shouldn't use 3 letter reps for anything. Although whenever I uprep I normally make a full good sentece. I only accept one letter downreps if they are a link to what I did wrong.

Hm, interesting system. The idea of it is to be just a nice little extra to the forum, but it looks like it really is a big deal.
Sadly, I don't have any suggestions on what to do or change. Anyways, I'm looking forward to repping, once I've been here for long enough

Exactly, so better be a good doggy to prevent feeling the extraordinary downrep power. It's not to be underestimated.

Unless you're used to it... That's not me. But yeah, we should try to learn from our mistakes...

To be honest, and I don't know about you all, but the whole "BAD DOWNREP - BOARD WARNING" rule is downright stupid. Unless the downrep is something like "u suck" or "fuck off", you shouldn't be allowed to get an instant board warning over something so stupid. So, let us put it this way. You give an invalid downrep, and you get a verbal warning saying next time you give an invalid downrep, you'll receive a board warning. By the way, don't say 'a board warning is a blink of an eye to me'. In this case, it's really not; it's actually kind of a big deal, since again, you shouldn't be able to receive that big of a consequence for merely giving an invalid or a bad downrep. Still, something like "u suck" or "fuck off" is worthy of a board warning, but I'm basically repeating what I said earlier. Therefore, I'll leave it at that.

Okay so MNIE52 tried to fake the downrep message This is the post he wanted to downrep me for which is my project actually
http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... =34&t=5655
In the end it wasn't real bc i still had my 13 reps. Idk but someone did that before to me and it was Smbxxer back then. IDK but i feel like members shouldn't fake the message at all.

Would be great to troll someone with a fake uprep.

Consider it as spam. That's something you CAN report, but I'd rather wait until it happens again from the same user.

What should I do, if I see a user abusing the reputation system?
