Apple's new idea for mobile technology I guess is...the Apple Watch.
Yep, you heard (read) right! Apple is developing an electronic multi-app watch.

What are your thoughts on this?

If you love apple, Tim Cook has got you by the penis. Tim Cook has your penises!
Honest to fucking God, the news of this "Apple Watch" just pisses me off. Samsung has it's own SmartWatch that serves basically the same purpose, but it gets backlash. Apple releases a literal copy and everyone is like, "Wow, this is so cool and innovative!"
Seriously, people, Tim Cook has your penises!

This post was great. Kudos for making an amazing post.
But seriously, that is a really good point.

While you're correct about the extensive coverage that the Apple Watch is getting in comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Gear2, I don't think this is entirely unexpected, out of line usual Apple "innovative" product release or a case of "Tim Cook has got you by the penis" (lol).
In a recent IRC discussion I was involved in, someone pointed out that while the android wear was pretty innovative software wise and all, the products which are being released (by most of the android based smartphone makers) for it are really looking like a smart watch's equivalent of a cheap watch. On the other hand, the Apple Watch might instantly strike you as a quality premium product (as cheesy as it sounds), with announced features and hardware like a sapphire crystal display or ceramic back. And I agree with this to quite some extent.
It's obvious that that Apple strives to be positioned as a company that delivers a well made product, with quality hardware and features that deliver (for most of the normal-users crowd that is). Add that with the great integration that they provide between (only) their own "i" devices, and you might start to understand why this is something that was strongly hyped, talked about, and at this point, well received among most of the apple user-base and media.
I personally prefer android wear though, and am looking forward to some better android wear products being released. I'm sure that Samsung and the rest of the pack aren't going to let themselves stick behind after all.

1. Apple is dumb for calling it the AppleWatch
2. It needs an iPhone
3. It doesn't work for people who wear watches on their right hand
4. It doesn't appear to have been designed incredibly well for the screen size
5. I'm sure in the next year another company will have something a lot better
I like the idea of smart watches (and smart contacts(tm) coming soon!!), but this could've been done better by a non-apple company.

I spent hours going through all of the website on a voice chat with friends, deconstructing and making fun of everything they said. This thing a prime example of post-Wozniak Apple's mindset: Take other older ideas, make them pretty and very easy to break, then sell them for more. Somehow, it works.

Look you don't have to ruin his human disguise and expose him for the iguana he is.

1.Could've called it iWatch. Think about it.
2.It needs an XBox on the back.
3.left handed people are weird
4.Yeah that's like, what? How do you press any button on it without pressing all of them?
5.Companies were trying to put a spin on watches?
Suppose it's nice but my generation uses the cellphone for the watch.

Phones have had screen orientation detection figured out for ages, and even if the watch (for whatever reason) wasn't capable of just flipping the image when you turned it around, it would only be a matter of incorporating a setting into the OS.
Also, it doesn't seem as if smart watches weren't already a thing. The iPod nano 6 could be used as a smart watch, and that was years ago.
Either way I just don't feel comfortable wearing a device like that. Weather happens. People with knives happen. I'd rather my expensive electronics stay somewhere safe and out of view.

1. Not really (they could have rather named it something more worse honestly)
2. Quite unsurprisingly so, and it's not like other phone manufacturers are not doing the same thing.
3. I suppose you just read that from the social media rumors circulating around? Because it can work for people who wear watches on their right hand too
4. Honestly we'll have to wait to see how practical the design works for everyday usage.
5. Although I'm a bit skeptical as to how soon, I agree.

I think this idea is just terrible. Let's see why:
1.) Your phone can already do EVERYTHING the watch does (except be tied onto your wrist)
2.) It requires you to have an iphone
3.) Less applications which makes it less useful
4.) The battery won't last as long
It's basically a gimmick that everyone else is doing. And the problem is that THERE'S NO NEED FOR TO HAVE THIS WHEN PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE MOBILE PHONES!
And yet, somehow, it will sell millions of copies and Apple will release a second, third, fourth, and fifth version of it.
What is this world coming to?

The Apple Watch is a dumb name, I agree; "iWatch" or similar would fit in a lot better with Apple's other products. I also agree that it seems a little pointless but people do like watches (and I don't wear one personally), and smart watches are popular lately so I imagine it will be quite successful.

You got to be kidding me Apple.
To be honest the name Appele Watch is clearly stupid as most of you guys has already said. I really don't like the design of the clock either.

Then their marketing campaign is garbage for it not being clear it would work on lefties. I'm glad they have it figured out, but the damage in public opinion was already done that will be hard to fix.

I'm sitting over here jelaous of the people who have those digital watches with calculators.
To be honest, having a smart-watch would be uncomfortable as fuck because of the screen size, not to mention there is literally no reason to buy this shit if you already have a smartphone

Although, I'm not too big a fan of watches in general, and thus have paid no attention to the smart watch fad at all, I'll put in my two cents.
I really do like the way apple executed this one, though I'd like to have seen it rounded. I like the UI a tad bit more than on Android wear watches and I really like the click wheel implementation, it was clever and especially for someone with bigger hands/fingers like me where I'd have a hard time doing a pinch to zoom. And there's alot of really cool, but also really creepy, things about it. Making it iPhone exclusive is not something you guys should be surprised by honestly, I saw it coming. IIRC, Android Wear smart watches (SEE: Moto 360, Samsung Gear, etc) are Android exclusive so I don't know why you're complaining, if you want a cross platform watch buy a pebble simple as that.

well I like vintage watches anyway soooo....
I've got this one that my dad found at a pawn shop where you have to wind it up every morning, otherwise it'll slow down and not be accurate. Thing's sexy as fuck.
On topic, well it's nice iPhone users can use something like the Pebble. I don't really give a shit either way to be perfectly honest

I think watches already are smart enough.
