Epic Empire (Rooftops) (Kaizo)

They're not that bad, but they're not that good either.

Wait, how did you do 3 of the Roto-Discs on one block?

That is just the effects of the rotodiscs, they can be decisive.

Review by me.

Gameplay: 2/10

You killed it. First off, there was a lack of power-ups (only 4-5 in a 10 minutes long level which is even hard) and coins (maybe less than power-ups but I don't know). There were some blind jumps and some places which were only 1 block high, so the player can't pass through those if he's big. Also, your recolors confused me, because I didn't know that in certain places there was an enemy, and so I got hurt. Also, don't do these kind of things. It's just a spam of enemies and I think there are better ways to makes what did you want to make other than that spam. There was also this area where you have to stay in a SMB3 platform which first fall and then go in a line. Don't do that, as it's difficult to avoid the spikes. I suggest to use a SMW platform. Also, there was this BGO which confused me sometimes, because it was too close as the block version. I suggest to make it darker. In the part of level after the checkpoint, there were many pointless switch (those blocks you have to hit to progress), because there is no challenge in pressing them and destroy the blockade. The battle with Birdo was bad made and it was boring. I suggest to remove that hammer bros, it gave me some little problems. The boss was impossible to beat, not because of the difficulty, but because the blocks prevents you from hitting him. Also I suggest to fix the bomb graphic, as there aren't the frames for when it is close to blow.

Atmosphere: 8/10

Here you did a decent job. I liked the design and the recolors, at least those which didn't confe me while playing this level, but I think there should be more than 2 colors. I think you didn't have to change the lava color to green, as it seems more acid. Also the lava doesn't quite fit in a sky enviroment. As I pointed out earlier, there is this BGO which is too closeas the block version and you should make it darker. The giant fire graphic have 4x4 pixels, and I think you should fix that too. The background was also good, but I don't think the music fits good. I don't have nothing else to say.

Overall: 5. Still average level. I suggest you to make a better gameplay.

Did you even read it? it is supposed to be one of the hardest levels in the project.
I warned you that it is gonna be hard, yet you took points off because it was too hard, look before you leap.
plus did you even find secrets? and no, it is possible to beat the level without getting hurt.

One problem I have with this level is that there are so many leaps of faith in it. The player has no way of knowing where he or she is going to land so it's all trial and error. IK you said that this level is hard, but there are other ways to make the level hard.

I get what your saying, but it was either that or bullet spam.

I know the level was hard. Indeed, I took some points off because there were some unfair death around the level. But I admit that I was a bit unfair in some points of my review and I'll fix it, of course.

I think a catchy name for this level would be Kaizo Ruins or Kaizo Rooftops

This isn't Kaizo: Kaizo is hard and unappealing to the eyes.
And the boss at the end sums up the whole name anyways.

no it can be appealing, it's all based on the difficulty of the level, not how it looks lol

Well this level isn't as difficult as Overheated Ocean or Cannon Catastrophe(my older levels).

Holy crap superstar, that boss at the end was impossible. This level was so insane and unfair at times I just called it kaizo and cheated. Just because you smack some fancy graphics on a kaizo level doesn't mean it isn't kaizo anymore. This level is the very definition of kaizo ..... The dr.eggman was unfair because the bombs exploded way to quickly, it didn't give you enough time to hit the switch and climb up to throw the bomb at eggman.

Either you are extremely good under pressure or..... you didn't test the boss lol.

Kaizo =/= Hard. Kaizo is a genre of SMW hacks based off of unfairly difficult traps and almost-impossible puzzles.

then explain SM64 Kaizo hacks and this level did have its share of puzzles and unfair traps (leaps of faith)

Did anyone find the secret hammer suit? click the switch then go back in the door before the check point. it helps you beat the boss.

Kaizo doesn't necessarily have to be SMW but it did originate in SMW.

Epic Empire (Rooftops) – Superiorstar
Atmosphere 5/10: This is a pretty weird and strange level. The music was very strange and sounded horrible and the voices wasn’t really needed, while though I can understand that it was joke. The tileset was pretty nice though the background was very unfitting due of different kind of style and shading. I honestly find this a bad looking level. It had a lack of BGOs and the tileset was a bit lacking to be honest.

NPC Placement 1/10: This had the worst NPC placement I’ve ever seen. I can understand this is a kaizo level, I simply can’t the NPC placement. Most of them were pretty glitchy and horribly placed. I recommend testing the level first to be honest.

Gameplay 2/10: Two things I liked about this level is the idea of the Hammer Bro thing you did and the boss (even though it was poorly made.) First off I didn’t see any gameplay-wise stuff in this level and the idea of the boss was nice, though it’s horrible designed. How are you even suppose kill him?

Level Design 5/10: The level was pretty boring though it had some cool challenges, Problem is that it was horrible used. The idea of having platforms going through the wall when you don’t even see it is a bad idea. The player doesn’t even know when it comes out. I really feel the level need some serious improvements.

In total I’m giving ya 3.25/10
