This Topic is basically about the thoughts, opinions, and a Video (fake, animated, real or whatever) of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
My thoughts and opinions is that it's not one of those Dumb challenges, but it is really viral on the Internet.

I fucking hate the dumbassery that forces stupid teenagers to do this these dumb-headed challenges that may or may not get them killed.
They think they're cool by doing this but they're not. It is just like smoking, it is cool, but it hurts them.
Fucking morons.

Dude...do you even know what the ALS Ice Bucket challenge is for? It's not like one of those cinnamon challenge things. It's a fundraiser for those who have ALS. Pouring cold water over your head simulates what it is like to have ALS, even for a second. Please read into this shit before bashing it.

Well, somebody broke their neck and died after doing it so it's sort of reckless IMO.

I think it's a waste of water, especially when there's a drought in California right now. Just donate and don't focus on yourself so much, it's that simple.

Ok, I want to post it but I'll put it in Spoilers as it is kinda political and religious...
I feel it is a kind thing for people to do and their hearts are in the right place, but I'm morally opposed to the challenge itself, here's why...
See, the ALS Foundation uses Stem-Cell research, but do you ever wonder where those stem cells come from? The answer is that they come from the lifeless corpses of abortion victims, that's right, murdered babies. Because I (obviously) Find abortion horrifying I can't support the ALS Foundation in any Way, Shape, or form(Please Don't turn this into a Abortion debate thread, I don't wanna be held responsible for that)
So Yeeeeeeeaaaahhhhh...

Actually, droughts aside, it's quite brilliant. They've turned donating into a pandemic. By creating this exciting challenge, they've created a way to get people focusing on donations. By having each person who participates challenge multiple more they've assured it spreads outwards. It's BRILLIANT.

To be fair, you should concern yourself directly with the abortion rather than with the ALS foundation. IF children are going to be aborted, we shouldn't waste what could go to helping those who do live. If you want to argue against abortion, that's totally fair. But not utilizing their stem cells would be wasteful.

I don't think people are purposely having abortions to help with the cause of ALS

Sure it's easy to gather attention that way, but it's still wasting water nonetheless.

Stem cells are cells without a function, and they don't only come from fetal sources. In fact, just recently, stem cells were discovered to be generated in teeth.

The truly sad part is though, at least a large portion think the challenge is dump a bucket of ice water on your head or pay $100, when it's actually dump a bucket of ice water on your head AND pay $10, or pay $100.
I'd wager that half of my Facebook friends that have done the challenge didn't know they were supposed to donate too.

I did the ice bucket challenge and have yet to upload the video. It's a pretty interesting way to donate to the foundation, so I support it.

See, It's not JUST the Abortion thing, The ALS Foundation is not Pouring all the money into ALS Research (Proof Here: http://www.viralthread.com/ice-bucket-challenge/. I you want to support ALS Research in the best way possible go HERE: http://godsnotdeadthemovie.com/donate they promise 100% of the donated money will go to ALS Research.
Understand, I don't want to anger anybody, but I just wanted to get the info out there so you can decide what you believe for yourself.

First off, I've never heard of viralthread before so I'm not 100% sure I trust it. I also would not trust to donate to the godsnotdeadthemovie.com website, and I suggest nobody else donate to it in the case that it is a scam, which is likely. If you are to donate to anybody, donate to the ALS Association itself directly, not a third-party service.
EDIT: godsnotdeadthemovie.com is also heavily religious and I, to be blunt, shall not associate myself with any of that. Besides, just because they promise they'll give their money to the ALS Association doesn't guarantee that that's where the money will be going. I suggest you donate to the ALSA directly to ensure it will get to the Association.

I wholly oppose animal testing.
Stem cells don't only come from aborted fetuses, though to be fair because of aforementioned thought I didn't bother looking up which are used in ALS funded research. Not that that particular difference would matter to me either way.
