Since the project thread is locked and I don't wanna have wasted the 10+ minutes of typing this:

- It's OK for the moderator to be a dick, accuse me of saying something to him I never said, call me crap, call my work crap, because he's one of your little club. Someone else wrote an entire response to point out that I was wrong to call him a troll (?) because what he's doing is more accurately described as flaming. But, hey, it's still good because he's one of the guys. For proof, all you have to do is look at the post directly above mine to see someone actually DEFENDING what the mod said to me and telling me I should improve my behavior about being upset over that.......
- People here love to read the latest replies, post on what they think occurred, and don't have the time or feel it necessary to even bother to figure out that we're talking about two different people in the first place. So I get to spend a couple of wasted hours saying the same thing over and over again.
- Everyone here just wants to be the director of their own strongly realized & specific little project...the moment someone comes in and suggests we do a project of a full-length game scope where we all decide what would represent a "sequel" type of game, well we all just can't handle the fact that I'd rather have people contribute to the overall vision of the project and not just the nuts and bolts. After requesting if there was a better place to post this kind of thing, I was directed to the general forums page or given the equivalent of saying just stand in the parking lot because what you want to do doesn't really fit what we're about here. Would it really have killed anyone to allow me to post my idea of a collaborative project and if no one comes in and expresses interest, to let it just vanish at the end of the Projects stack? Why the need to come in and freak out that I'm not showing full levels but work I'm doing with code changes & custom graphics to lay the foundation? I would argue that the time I've spent preparing code & graphics for this project is so far is MORE time than would be spent on 2-3 full levels.
I have already been able to speak to some people who are interested in what I'm doing & the fact that I want to include people on choosing the look and feel of this game rather than coming to them with my pie already baking in the oven, so to speak. The rest of you can have your good ol' boys club, go on defending Superiorwhatever, a horrible trolling racist schmuck and to boot someone who's too lazy to even read the description next to the item he tries to comment on; Darkmatt, a moderator who thinks that gives him a right to be a dick to everyone and sees himself as some sort of a celebrity because people laugh at his vile behavior. Those are your forum pals.
Oh and the projects forum is a joke...I've seen enough to know that it consists of dozens of posts of WIP and for each a handful of initial comments before it disappears into obscurity. I wanted to pitch something that people might want to be in on the planning stages of, which you could either express interest in or just ignore and move on. Whether or not my work is compelling enough to get someone to offer to help is, really, my concern and my business. 3 weeks spent preparing custom code & replacing graphics to prepare for this is just as important & meaningful work as doing a couple of full levels, but this forum is incapable of coming to grips with that or know how to deal with it. So, good riddance to the lot of ya.
DarkMatt NEVER called you crap. He said if you keep this attitude and the project stays in its current state of quality people will call you and the project crap.
I read through the whole thing all the time, and DarkMatt was, in the end, also criticising your project. If you would actually READ my posts you'd know. Also, he behaves like this against everyone and everyone knows he's just joking around. If Mat sees a good project, he says it.
Also, it's not about how much effort you spent into laying a foundation. It's about how much you can SEE, and what we SAW by the screenshots was nothing special. Maybe post screenshots of your oh-so-good coding preparation next time and nothing super unfinished. The Goomba is nothing groundbreaking, the mines level looked weird and nothing really fit, and the world map had LOTS of beta and unfinished stuff, but the idea of actually working on a map made out of paper is really neat. Maybe clean up the world map a little before posting screen shots. Also, we won't jsut give you a forum just for your project, since yopur project's about the onyl one of this kind. And even if it is collapborative, the people that wanna join have to make sure the project leader knows hat he's doing and is responsible. Do you know what your doing? If you weren't lying with your last post, yes. Even though you presented it really poorly. And that's all that counts. The
presentation. You must make people wanna join in your project. Are you a responsible leader I'd like to work with? No, because you just can't see if you're wrong. About all members here keep telling you how there's nothing wrong with DarkMatt's behavior (Well, about as much as with any other post he makes. You gotta have a skin on the internet.), but you just can't apologise. The idea of this project is nice, I like being creative. But you just didn't show the possibilities such a project could have. All your coding work is nice and really important, but ou didn't show it off. Show the people your project is great, show them it stands out. Right now all this stands out for is this argument. And I don't think that was intended by you.
Also, as I said,y ou need to show people why they should join. Making one or two complete levels and showing them off would do wonders and would make people excited and wanting them to join. And don't tell me one or two levels is a "half baked pie". Would I be interested in joining? Sure. Would I mind the lack of presentation? Maybe a little. Is your attitude against everyone who's not your opinion wrong? Yes. You can't expect everyone to be super excited about what you showed off. You need to make a foundation that people can see. You can show off a level better then you can show off some coding.
Also, the attitude against Surperior is just... no. Especially this:

THIS is what made you sink below anything I've ever seen. THIS is worse then any of MyNameIsEric52's bad grammar he gets fooled on and his mediocre level design. THIS is worse then youtubeware's acts, because he apologised. THIS is even worse then Knux deleting his forums and blaming a hacker (except it was a hacker, which is unlikely, in this case I apologise).
Superior did NOTHING wrong, and you call him RACIST. I know Superior, he is ANYTHING but racist. He also isn't a horrible person, he's a nice guy. And he was definitely not trolling. He gave you criticism and said that it didn't earn the name "Super Mario Bros." because the screenshot looked really bad. It doesn't even fit the feel of the project, it has nothing to do with the whole "collaboration" aspect. Really, I lost ALL my respect for you because of THIS ONE SENTENCE. Seriously, if you wanna leave, go. You would do ALL OF US a huge favor.
Also, everyone that knows a little about this forum knows that DarkMatt doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He is, in his core, a very good moderator. While his attitude might seem loose, what he means is mostly true and competent.
The projects forum consists of WIPs because that's basically the definition of a project. Something that's being worked on. Making a WHOLE episode takes a long time, especially if you do it mostly on your own. That's why many projects go on for so long. BUT the good projects always stay on the first site. They have activitiy because of recent updates by the creator or general discussion about the project. THIS is what you wanna achieve with your project.
Also, screenshots in a projects thread are there to give the people interested in the project an expression of what the project will look like. And people should give criticism, it's appreciated so the creator can improve the levels. Also, what kind of criticism did you expect from your screenshots? I also don't get why you keep insulting Superior so hard. He did what a project thread is for. He JUDGED THE PROJECT BY ITS SCREENSHOTS.
And again, you need to show off what you did with your coding. You showed off nothing someone with a little SMBX knowledge can't do.
And if you wanna leave, go ahead. I would appreciate it. If you keep insulting people for no reasons, prepare to get A LOT of negative comments.
