I tried to PM somebody but I found out that I didn't participate in this forum enough.
How much posts must I have in order to access the PM system?

I'm not sure precisely, but I feel the whole concept is ridiculous because users shouldn't be compelled to make a certain number of posts before they are eligible for private messaging.
There should be a way to disable this feature, surely.

There doesn't seem to be an option for that, I'm afraid. I'd gladly remove that kind of restrictions but it doesn't appear to be possible. Maybe Joey will find a way.

There is a way to remove that restriction. I'm pretty sure it's to counter spam but we don't deal with much of that.

But can you at least try to find out how many posts you have to make before you make a PM...

I believe you have to make 5 or more posts, because zlakerboy357 received a PM I sent him to review a level yesterday and answered right away.
But yeah, even if we have spam on this forum I don't see why someone would need to make posts to PM someone. There could be various reasons for someone to actually try to PM without reaching that limit, like being member on another forum where he met somebody and wants to PM that somebody here.

Actually, Valtteri and Joey already remarked that it can't be fixed, so yeah, but those exclamations are pretty true, though.

No, I said that there is a way to remove the restriction.
I checked the setting and the minimum posts is set to 0, so this feature should be disabled. However, it obviously isn't, but I think that's because Newly Registered Users have different permissions for PMs and that's put in place if the minimum posts is set to 0. I wish there was a way to get rid of that group entirely. I'll check out the permissions, and if that doesn't work I'll set the minimum posts to 1 so that all you have to do is make one post.

I must of misread your text. I got in my brain "there isn't a way to remove that restriction."

Only having to make one post would be convenient, coz then that would be made immediately in the introductions (which I, myself, think there should be a feature that forces you to initially make a topic there anyway).

Yeah, I think this can be fixed by editing new members post limit to 0.

Personally, I agree with having the limit raised to one post (to avoid ad PMs and spammers) but I disagree with forcing users to make an introduction thread first.

Pretty much the same, it isn't necessary to actually make an introduction thread, it's just a way to start your stay on the forums. Forcing someone to make an introduction it's pretty much unnecessary.
Though I agree that someone would at least make one post after registering, there is still people that comes here just to find resources for their projects, and that don't pay attention to the forum at all, and making them to make a single post before allowing them to actually PM someone it's quite limitative. I think that the permissions should be set to 0 instead of 1, there isn't even a good reason to make someone post something before PMing anyway, not like every single user that registers is destined to be a spammer if they don't make a single post.

Locking this thread because the discussion is going in a completely different direction. Nobody is forcing anybody to make threads.
I'll try to fix the permissions of the Newly Registered Users group.
EDIT: Permissions fixed. Newly Registered Users now have all standard features.
