Too much lagging

Postby Eyesoar » Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:05 am

When I try putting more then one NPC-206 (electric ball enemy in mario 2) in a room that contains a moving layer platform the game starts slowing down alot. It works fine when theres just one of them but I need to get atleast 4 in there but after putting even 2 of them it starts getting laggy.... I can put 5 bowsers into that same room and everything runs perfectly fine. Why is this happening and what can be done ?

It might have something to do with the frames and the way the Spark graphic animates. Sick Ass Swamp Romp from CC7 had the same issue of lag because the last section was filled up with Sparks (electric ball enemy in Mario 2) which had flashy animations. Don't overuse those enemies in order to prevent the lag, and consider what else is open at the same time as SMBX.

This especially happens when a Level has a lot of stuff going on because it will cause lag while running with "wall-climbed" Enemies. Use "Disable Frameskip" at the startup where you can choose "Game Start", "Level Editor" or "Exit" to prevent frameskipping certain places where it producing lag.

Also, If you fill alot of them, "Overflow" error can occur. Like Robirdos do when you put alot of these.
