Layered World Map help

Postby SMBXxer » Sat Aug 16, 2014 9:43 pm

Hey guys, I need some help with creating "layered world maps".
What I mean by "layered" is like in SMW, where the maps have hills and things of the sort.
I just can't seem to do it, please help.

You didn't understand what I said then.
Look at the hill in the LFFTMK thread's first screenshot.
I need help with that.
EDIT: Oops, I meant the first WORLD MAP screenshot.

It's pretty simple. If you want it to make a hill land form, count how much tiles you use from the bottom tile up to the top tile, where to grass/sand or whatever is used. If it's like 4, use that for the entire wall of the landmass, make sure to keep it constant when you make a corner or have it curve around. If that makes a little sense.

Being more patient would help a lot.

Let me get this straight, you want to place world map tiles so it actually looks like you're going higher or lower, is that it? If that's the case you need to count the amount of blocks you're using per cliff and add an extra to the next cliff you climb. You can take for example my project's demo world map, or the Endless Exploration's world map, both making good use of said visual effect.

If you're asking something not related to this I would like you to express yourself better, though, as I don't understand what you actually want.
