Guys, if you weren't on the IRC or haven't read my signature first before reading this, you should know that I'll be in Greece from tomorrow to the end of the month, and I won't have access to SMBX. During this time, this means I can't work on the remake, so I'm gonna put this on a hold until I return.

What the fuck is wrong with you. Take your tablets.
And for those of you guys that are wondering why I posted as I am still in Greece, from my location I'm able to access the Internet. Don't worry about the project though, the project is going to restart tomorrow, or at the very latest, the 1st of August (I fly back home tomorrow).
Only bit of criticism I could give so far is that YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT THE ORIGINAL GREAT CASTLE ADVENTURE PART A SECRET!!! Now we all know what to expect, and it kinda removes a lot of the nostalgia of it. Other than that, this project looks FANTASTIC!

Crap. I just realised. I spoiled it because some people were complaining that it was removing all the flair and nostalgia of people who have played the original, as for instance there are new levels, more expansive, nonlinear sections and custom music, rather than flat, barren sections like in the original.
However, although I can use the internet I can't use SMBX (I'm in an internet cafe) so the project is still on hold.

I see. Where's a memory-erasing gun when you need one these days?
Just to let you know guys, I am still in Greece at the time of this post. Although the title should say that the project should resume today, my flight back home leaves quite late (7:30 PM) and so I won't be back until around midnight. As a result, it'll be back in business on the 1st of August, not today.

I'm back from Greece, and I'm able to use SMBX again. As a result, this project is now resuming progress! Prepare to see some more updates with the levels coming soon!
This project looks very interesting. I find it kind of awesome that you are making a remake of a old SMBX Episode but I hope it wouldn't look drastically different by designing compared to the original.
Playthrough of a regular SMBX Episode, The Great Castle Adventure:

There you go - you've just hit the nail on the head. That is why I am including the original TGCA as a post-game adventure after beating Bowser in the remade version.
Still going on well, but this time with some more completed levels. This time around, it's the turn of two of the Test levels, Test #1 and Test #5 (I'm doing the levels in no particular order as it's a hub episode). Here's screenshots of both Test #1 and Test #5 respectively (there will be no screenshots of Tests #2, #3, #4 and #6 as it's easy to guess what they'll look like based on the screens of #1 and #5):
You should have noticed, looking at Test #5's screenshot, that I've changed the looks and the designs of them. In the original TGCA, Tests #1 to #4 were SMB1 levels 1-1, 1-2, 3-1 and 8-1, while Tests #5 and #6 were SMB2 levels 1-1 and 2-1. However, here's how it'll play in the remake with the Test levels and which levels they'll be:
Tests #1 and #2 - SMB1 levels 1-1 and 1-2
Tests #3 and #4 - SMB2 levels 1-1 and 2-1
Test #5 and #6 - SMB3 levels 1-1 and 1-2
As you should have guessed, they will be in 8-bit instead of 16-bit, and adhere as faithfully possible to the original levels.
